Saint-Imier, November 12th, 2009 – Longines is at the starting gate! The world-renowned Swiss watchmaker will be using its timing skills on the glistening mountain slopes, namely as the official timekeeper for the 2009-2010 Alpine Skiing World Cup competitions organised by the International Skiing Federation (FIS). During this year’s World Cup, Longines presents the Longines Admiral model. A watch that stands for sports, performance and precision. Throughout this season, all eyes will be on the Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal, the previous winner of the Overall World Cup, the Super-G crystal globe as well as the gold medal in Super Combined at the World Championships in Val d’Isère. Longines would like to take this opportunity to wish its ambassador of elegance every success during the coming season.

LONDON (GBR), FIG Office, October 12, 2009: Written press accredited for the 41st Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in London (GBR) will be provided with competition data in real time, compliments of watchmaker Longines, exclusive partner of the FIG. This technological advance gives the media a chance to consult online and live the scores and intermediate and final rankings of athletes during the competition. Gymnast biographical data will also be made available. Launched in gymnastics at the Stuttgart (GER) worlds in 1989, the service is known in media circles as CIS (Commentator Information System). Longines initially offered the system exclusively to television commentators onsite at various competition venues. Expertise, new technologies and the political drive to broaden information availability are target issues at London’s premiere event. The FIG and Longines jointly presented the Web CIS to 402 accredited media representatives in London at the opening press conference that took place today in the O2.

The Swiss watchmaker Longines was honoured to present a Longines Admiral to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the winner of the Men’s singles final of the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships on Sunday October 11th, 2009. Longines was delighted to be able to offer its technical skills and experience in sports timing for this tournament which is the oldest ATP World Tour tournament in Asia.

The only 18 year old Taiwanese tennis talent has just been awarded as the 2008 best junior tennis player of the world by the International Tennis Federation. He visited the Longines Lounge at Roland Garros where he was gifted with his first Longines watch. Jane is very proud of this victory as she had only started competing with her 8 year old horse since last November. Aksel Lund Svindal, Longines' Ambassador of Elegance on the top again! After his victory of the Overall World Cup title in 2007, he made it again this year in Åre (Sweden), winning with a very low 2-point margin on his runner up. He managed his complete season with great and stable performances race after race, and started the World Cup finals very well placed in the ranking. Winning the Cristal Globe for the Super G races had reinforced his position to win the Overall title. Congratulations Aksel!

After having signed a great come back in Beaver Creek at the begining of the 2008-2009 season, Aksel Lund Svindal is named 2009 World Champion in Super Combined. He dominated the Downhill run on the fameous Bellevard face with an advantage of 4 hundred of a second. Aksel was then able to take the best out of his slalom run to keep the leading place and cut the cells with the best cumulated timing! The Longines family congratulates him for this great performance!

On 15th January, 2009, the "2009 Asia Model Festival Awards" were held in Seoul, South Korea. This year, the pan-Asia event's slogan was "Asia is One". Longines is proud to announce that its Ambassadress of Elegance, Taiwanese super model Chi Ling Lin has won the "Asia Star Award", in the international category. A great reward for the young actress whose first movie, "The Battle of Red Cliff" (directed by John Woo) is encountering a massive success.

With the honour of already being an official partner for the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup, Longines can thus confirm its membership of the “inner circle” of Alpine sport. At this year's World Championships Longines' Ambassador Aksel Lund Svindal will defend his title as the World Champion in Downhill and Giant Slalom.
