New Wings
for the Longines Museum
Longines and its 175 years in Saint-Imier: an anniversary,
a museum, a book
To commemorate its 175 years in Saint-Imier, Longines is
adding two new rooms to its museum. A space displaying the
output from 50 years of watchmaking (1957-2007) and a room
recounting the development in advertising by the maison demonstrate
the rich past of the brand with the winged hourglass. Longines
has also put on display there the large production registers,
an inventory of all the timepieces made in the factory. To
celebrate this anniversary, the watchmaker company has also
published a work on the social and economic development of
its region, entitled “A Region in Time”. Written
by the historian Laurence Marti, the analysis highlights
the emergence of watchmaking in this region. |
