Longines possesses 175 years of horological experience and expertise. Over all these years, the firm has of course never ceased evolving, moving from pocket watches fitted with a crown wheel to lever escapements, and wristwatches to selfwinding mechanical movements and quartz calibres. Longines timepieces soon found their popularity all over the world. Its entire production for decade after decade has been consigned in a series of record books faithfully kept by Longines since 1867, the Production Records.

With entries going back right to the foundation of the Longines factory, these large volumes contain a comprehensive list of the company’s production up to the computerisation of recent years. The information includes the date each timepiece exited production, its consecutive serial number, the type of caliber cased up, the name and address of the agent or representative to whom the particular timepiece was delivered along with various data regarding its case, dial and hands. An invaluable source of information, the Longines Production Records provide an accurate picture of Longines’ output since 1867.

Part of the Longines Museum has been specially outfitted to display this unique material. Its contents mirror the destiny and destination of the myriad timepieces produced over the years in Saint-Imier. Invoice Ledgers covering the last third of the 19th century and the 20th up to the 1940s complete the collection.
