Hosts Longines Classic at Bangalore Race Course
Far away from home, under a new sky,
A different culture here but it has its own style.
I wish I could stay on but it is time for us to part,
For another journey beckons and it is time for a new start.
Bangalore, November 21, 2008: It is time that guides us through, and for travelers it holds much more importance. Understanding this, prestigious Swiss watchmaker Longines recently introduced its Admiral Collection that features a 24h "second time zone” as well as a chronograph model. The collection was launched by Longines Ambassadress of Elegance, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at an elegant Derby event in Bangalore this afternoon.
Already the Official Timekeeper of the prestigious Royal Ascot Race Course in the UK and Official Watch of the Melbourne Cup Carnival in Australia, the occasion of a dedicated Longines Race in Bangalore in the presence of local VIPs was the perfect choice for the launch in India of this new Longines Collection. The beginning of the Longines derby culture in India started last year, when Longines announced its sports watches at the Mumbai Races with the inaugural Longines Classic horse race.
The winner of the Longines Classic race received the trophy and the first Longines watch of the new Sport Collection in India, the Longines Admiral Collection, presented by Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan.
Press and distinguished guests gathered at the hospitality tent where the watch collection was on display, giving the whole occasion a decidedly "My Fair Lady" atmosphere and underlying that "Elegance is an attitude".
With a rich history in sport, Longines is widely present in sporting events around the globe including gymnastics, tennis, ski, short track, equestrian show jumping, and horse racing.
Launching the collection, Mr Claude Jaunin, Regional Sales Manager (Asia Pacific), Longines; said, “The Longines Admiral series evokes the prestigious dimension of sport in which aesthetics, precision and the beauty of the action predominate. Since Bangalore is emerging as the fastest growing financial hub, a watch for business travelers had to be presented here in a big way.”
Talking about her recent possession, Brand Ambassador Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said, “This line introduces the subtle ambivalence of an outline that is both sober and robust, and perfectly illustrates Longines’ innate ability to match elegance and performance.”
The Longines Admiral series summarises the spirit of sports in which time seems to acquire another dimension. It is meant for travelers and modern adventurers who enjoy crossing lines of longitude. The 24h “second time zone” models bear witness to this. They are fitted with an automatic movement, a 24-hour scale on the bezel and a hand for the supplementary hours. The series also includes automatic mechanical chronographs with a date window at six o’clock and a tachymeter on the dial.
Priced at RS 110500 onwards, the different models are available with stainless steel bracelet or genuine alligator strap, fitted with triple security folding clasp. Materials at once noble and classic, they fit in perfectly with the top-of-the-range spirit of this prestigious series.
