Longines rewards legendary cricket players at the Jungfraujoch (Jungfraujoch, Switzerland)

August 15, 2009

August 15th, 2009 Jungfraujoch / Saint-Imier - The world best cricket players from India and the Great Britain have played an exhibition match at 3454 meters altitude. This one of a kind event brought together cricket legends celebrated as stars in their countries. Two of the all times best cricket players, Kapil Dev and Alvin Kallicharan, showed their skills despite the unusual cold and wet snow course. At the end of the 45 minutes lasting match, the team from India defeated the UK by 4 runs. All the players have been rewarded with a yellow gold watch from The Longines Master Collection. This thoroughly classical and elegant model houses a fine self-winding mechanical movement which can be admired through its transparent case back. The silver-finished “barleycorn” patterned dial indicates the hours, minutes, seconds and the date at 6 o’clock. The watch is worn on a brown, genuine leather strap and is water-resistant to 30 meters.

Middle: Alvin Isaac Kallicharran was a West Indian batsman who played from 1972 to 1981. His elegant, watchful batting style produced some substantial innings for a West Indian team very much in its formative years in the seventies. He was Wisden's Cricketer of the Year for 1973. Left: Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikhanj, better known as Kapil Dev, is a former Indian cricketer regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders of all time. He was captain when India won the world cup in 1983.
