Gran Premio Longines (Mexico City, Mexico)
Inaugurated in 1943, the Las Américas racecourse soon became a popular meeting place in Mexico City and quickly saw success. Since major renovation work in 2000 the racecourse now offers modern, high-quality facilities to the 20,000 spectators it can hold. The racing season lasts for 48 weeks a year, from January to mid-December and culminates in the Gran Premio Longines, a race over 1 1/16 miles (approx. 1710 m) for three-year olds.
