White Turf St. Moritz

There is simply nothing like the White Turf races at St. Moritz, where noble Thoroughbreds gallop head to head across the frozen lake of the famous Swiss alpine resort. This long-standing horse racing event has thrilled crowds since 1907, drawing over 35,000 spectators every year. Incidentally, Longines was timekeeper for the White Turf races in the early 1960’s. On three Sundays of February each year, the enthusiastic audience is kept enthralled by a succession of flat, trotting and skijoring races. Longines is the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of this highlight of the winter sporting calendar.
HH The Emir’s Trophy

The HH The Emir’s Trophy presented by Longines is a Group 1 race open to Thoroughbreds 3 years and over and is among the most remarkable of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club events. It is run over a distance of 2400 m (around 1.5 miles) and, along with the no less prestigious HH The Emir’s Sword, is a main feature of the Qatar International Equestrian Festival.
­Longines Gran Premio Latinoamericano
This international Group 1 race, the largest in Latin America, is organised in different countries across this area each year. It is organised by OSAF, the Organización Sudamericana de Fomento del Pura Sangre de Carrera, whose Official Partner is Longines. This prestigious institution is particularly dedicated to promoting and developing equestrian races and breeding in Latin America.
­Longines Golden Slipper

The first running of the Longines Golden Slipper took place in the year 1957. This race is a 1200 metre Group 1 sprint for 2 year old Thoroughbred horses, and is the richest in its category. Held at the Rosehill Gardens racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales, and known as the “Jewel in the Crown”, the Longines Golden Slipper Race is one of Australia’s biggest and most respected equestrian events and is held as part of the prestigious Longines Golden Slipper Carnival.
Dubai World Cup
31.03.2018 - DUBAI | UAE
As unique as it is prestigious, the Dubai World Cup Carnival comprises eleven days of racing from January to the end of March, culminating in Dubai World Cup day, which includes around ten races. The highlight of the day is the World Cup race itself, preceded notably by the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic both Group 1 races. This event is a major fixture in the world of flat racing and one of the most popular worldwide.
Chengdu Dubai International Cup

This unique event, organised by the Meydan Group, is run at the heart of mainland China on the Jinma Lake racecourse. This race day comprises the Chengdu Dubai International Cup presented by Longines, which is 2200 m long.
­Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes

The Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes is a popular 2000 m Group 1 race that takes place at the Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney, Australia. Formed in 1851 under the name of Queen’s Plate, the race was renamed after a visit from Queen Elizabeth II in 1954. In 2013, the Australian Turf Club formed “ The Championships ”, a series of races that take place in the autumn, the most important race being the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes. It is the richest 2000 m turf race in the world.
­Longines Kentucky Oaks

Created in 1875, following the example of the Kentucky Derby, the Longines Kentucky Oaks is a Group 1 race for 3-year old fillies run over 9 furlongs (approximately 1810 m). This is an unofficial “ ladies’ day ” and is famous for its splash of colour – pink in particular, according to the tradition of “ Pink Out ! ”. Longines is all about elegance of course as the Title Partner for this event and is presenting the competition for the most elegant lady of the day, the Longines Kentucky Oaks Fashion Contest.
Kentucky Derby

The first Derby took place in the year 1875. Today, 140 years later, the Kentucky Derby is a 1.25 miles course (approx. 2012 m) intended for 3-year old Thoroughbreds. Taking place on the first Saturday in May at the Churchill Downs racecourse, it is the crowning event of the two-week Kentucky Derby Festival. Almost 170,000 spectators attend the race, which is also known as the “most exciting two minutes in sport”. The Longines Churchill Distaff Turf Mile race takes place on the same day.
Belmont Stakes

Inaugurated in 1867, the Belmont Stakes is a prestigious Group 1 horse race open to 3-year-old Thoroughbreds and held annually in Belmont, New York. Dubbed the “Test of the Champion”, the 2400-metre-long Belmont Stakes is one of the longest races on the American circuit to be run on dirt.
Longines President’s Cup

Created in 2004, the Longines President’s Cup is the most important annual equestrian competition for Thoroughbreds in Russia. This event takes place at the Central Moscow Hippodrome – founded in 1834, it is the largest horseracing track centre in Russia – and attracts each year the attention of horse breeders as well as politicians or prominent businessmen. The race is graded Group 1 and run on 2400 m.
Prix de Diane ­Longines

Created in 1843, this 2100 m Group 1 race is the world’s top race for fillies. The Prix de Diane Longines is held at the Chantilly racecourse, a focus of sport and beauty, against the magnificent background of the famous Chantilly Castle. It is without question one of the best known and most glamorous equestrian events in the world.
Royal Ascot

Considered worldwide to be one of the most prestigious sporting events on the calendar, Royal Ascot was created in 1711 at the instigation of Queen Anne, the last Stuart monarch. Today some 500 horses are entered for the thirty races of the week, which are watched keenly by around 300,000 spectators. Longines is also present at Ascot Racecourse throughout the entire year as the Official Timekeeper, particularly during the Longines Sagaro Stakes in May, the King George Day in July and the QIPCO British Champions Day in October.
Longines Grosser Preis von Berlin
12.08.2018 - BERLIN | GERMANY
Group 1 flat horse race created in 1888, the Longines Grosser Preis von Berlin is run over a distance of 2400 meters at the Hoppegarten racecourse and is open to Thoroughbreds aged three years or older. Since 2016, Hoppegarten is also the first place in Europe where Longines has installed its new technology of horseracing timekeeping, the Longines Positioning System (LPS).
Travers Stakes

An important race located in a splendid racecourse. Inaugurated in 1863 at a location that already had a certain equestrian tradition, Saratoga now constitutes one of the oldest locations for sporting events in the United States of America. Popular amongst New Yorkers and all horse-lovers, the site becomes a theatre for great equestrian feats each summer.
Longines Topkapi Trophy

The Longines Topkapi Trophy is part of the Longines International Racing Festival Istanbul that is annually held at the Veliefendi racecourse in Istanbul in early September. This race is open to Thoroughbreds aged 3 years or older and is run over a distance of 1600 m.
Longines Grosser Preis von Baden
02.09.2018 - BADEN-BADEN | GERMANY
It was in 1858, at a 3-day meet, that the first Thoroughbreds were seen on the track at Iffezheim. Today, more than a century and a half later, the Longines Grosser Preis von Baden is a Group 1 race for Thoroughbreds 3 years and over run over a distance of 2400 m. This international event is held every year at the Iffezheim racecourse, and opens the sixth and last day of racing during the famous “ Grosse Woche ”.
Longines Irish Champions Weekend
15 — 16.09.2018 - DUBLIN | IRLAND
The Longines Irish Champions Weekend hosts ten Group races, including five Group 1s. Created in 2014, it is staged on Ireland’s two premier racecourses and takes place in September. The Longines Irish Champions Weekend features two iconic fixtures the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes and The Comer Group International Irish St. Leger in back-to-back meetings taking place on two consecutive days. The Irish Champion Stakes is a very high-rated race, which was first run in 1976 and has consistently attracted the best racehorses in the world since then.
Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe

The Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is without doubt one of the most remarkable equestrian events in the world. Inaugurated in 1920, this Group 1 race has now become the world’s most important flat racing competitions. It is open to 3-year olds and over and is run over a distance of 2400 m. It is held on the same day as the Prix de l’Opéra Longines and the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp Longines, also Group 1 races, but run over 2000m and 1000m respectively. The Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe was crowned the 2015 and 2017 Longines World’s Best Horse Race.
QIPCO British Champions Day

The QIPCO British Champions Series incorporates thirty-five top flat races in the British horseracing calendar. The Series takes place over more than twenty racedays. It comprises five championship categories, namely Sprint, Mile, Middle Distance, Long Distance and Fillies & Mares. Longines is delighted to be the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the QIPCO British Champions Day, the climax of this important Series, taking place in the prestigious Ascot racecourse.
Breeders’ Cup World Championships

These Championships are widely recognised as the most important international North American Thoroughbred race meeting. The event meeting commences on Friday with four Breeders’ Cup World Championships races, including the Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff for 3-year old and older fillies and mares and continues on Saturday with a nine-race card, including the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf. The Breeders’ Cup Classic was named the 2016 Longines World’s Best Horse Race.

It is not surprising then that the Japan Cup in association with Longines – a veritable institution in “ The Land of the Rising Sun ” and one of the big events in the international calendar – is also one of the most long-awaited sporting moments in the year for these experts in horse racing.
Longines International Jockeys’ Championship

Created in 1998, the Longines International Jockeys’ Championship is the first major event in the Longines Hong Kong International Races. Twelve of the world’s top jockeys compete against each other in the four heats of the championship held at the Happy Valley racecourse on Hong Kong island. The Longines World’s Best Jockey is awarded to the best jockey of the year after this iconic race.
Longines Hong Kong International Races

Founded in 1884, the Hong Kong Jockey Club is one of the oldest institutions in Hong Kong. The Jockey Club is a non-profit making organisation which organises the Longines Hong Kong International Races at the Sha Tin racecourse, Group 1 events that are extremely prestigious as well as offering some of the highest prize money. The most important races are the Longines Hong Kong Cup (over 2000 m), the Longines Hong Kong Mile (1600 m), the Longines Hong Kong Vase (2400 m) and the Longines Hong Kong Sprint (1200 m).
