The FEI World Equestrian GamesTM ended beautifully with Germany topping the medal table

FEI World Equestrian Games
September 24, 2018

The much-awaited FEI World Equestrian GamesTM ended today at the Tryon International Equestrian Center after two weeks of intense competition in the disciplines of Dressage, Eventing, Reining, Jumping, Vaulting, Para-Equestrian Dressage and Vaulting – the Endurance trial having been cancelled due to extreme weather conditions. About 650 top-level athletes coming from more than 70 countries gathered here in North Carolina to battle for the World Championship title in each discipline. As the Official Partner and Timekeeper of the event, Swiss watch brand Longines was delighted to time incredible feats and to present all medalists with elegant watches in celebration of their sports performances.

In today’s Jumping Individual World Championship, Simone Blum (GER) and her mount DSP Alice claimed victory ahead of Martin Fuchs (SUI) on Clooney and compatriot Steve Guerdat on Bianca. On Friday, the Team competition was won by American representatives – made up of Laura Kraut on Zeremonie, Adrienne Sternlicht on Cristalline, McLain Ward on Clinta and Devin Ryan on Eddie Blue – followed by Team Sweden and Team Germany.

The Driving World Championship – one of the most spectacular equestrian disciplines – comprised three days of competitions: Dressage, Marathon and the Cones trial. Driving’s gold medals went to Team USA and Australian rider Boyd Exell. Team Netherlands and Team Belgium respectively took the silver and the bronze medals while Chester Weber (USA) and Edouard Simonet (BEL) completed the podium in the individuals.

The results of this eventful second week also included the victory of Italy’s Lorenzo Lupacchini and Silvia Stopazzini in the Pas de Deux Vaulting Championship. The Team title went to the German representatives and the Individuals gold medals were taken by Kristina Boe (GER) on Don de la Mar and Lambert Leclezio (FR) on Poivre Vert. In addition, the Squad Vaulting Championship saw the great victory of Germany’s Team Norka des VV Koeln-Duennwald on Danny Boy OLD.

Finally, in Para-Equestrian Dressage, the Individuals gold medals went to Italy’s Sara Morganti in Grade I, Stinna Kaastrup (DEN) in Grade II, Rixt van der Horst (NED) in Grade III, Sanne Voets (NED) in Grade IV and Sophie Wells in Grade V. In Freestyle, gold medals were claimed by Sara Morganti on Royal Delight in Grade I, Stinna Tange Kaastrup on Horsebo Smarties in Grade II, Rixt van der Horst on Findsley in Grade III, Sanne Voets on Demantur N.O.P. in Grade IV and Sophie Wells on C Fatal Attraction in Grade V. In the Team category, Team Netherlands composed of Frank Hosmar on Alphaville N.O.P., Nicole den Dulk on Wallace N.O.P., Sanne Voets on Demantur N.O.P. and Rixt van der Horst on Findsley, captured the title.

Throughout the event, Longines had the pleasure to highlight its Record collection as the Official Watch of the FEI World Equestrian GamesTM. Combining classic elegance and excellence, each piece in this line houses a movement including a single-crystal silicon balance spring with unique properties and is certified as a “chronometer” by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
