    Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of UAE 2020

    On Saturday 29 February 2020, Team New Zealand composed of Bruce Goodin on Backatorps Danny V, Richard Gardner on Calisto, Tom Tarver-Priebe on Popeye and Daniel Meech on Cinca took first place in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations CupTM of UAE in Abu Dhabi. Egyptian representatives arrived second ahead of Team UAE on their home soil. Two days before, Egypt’s Mouda Zeyada and Morocco jumped to victory in the President of the UAE Showjumping Cup Grand Prix presented by Longines. He was followed by Latvia’s Kristaps Neretnieks on Moon Ray and Jordanian rider Maysam Bisharat on Un Dollar de Blondel. As the Official Partner, Official Timekeeper and Watch of this event, Longines was proud to grant the winners of the two competitions with elegant timepieces.   On this occasion, the Swiss watchmaking brand was also delighted to present the Official Watch of the event, the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” model, representing a new achievement in the field of quartz, combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance.

    Geir Gulliksen (NOR) steered Vdl Groep Quatro to victory in the last leg of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Western European League

    The 2019/2020 season of the Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM Western European League came to an end with the last qualifier, which took place during the Gothenburg Horse Show on Sunday 23 of February. On this occasion, Norway’s Geir Gulliksen on Vdl Groep Quatro took the win ahead of Switzerland’s Bryan Balsiger on Twentytwo Des Biches and French rider Kevin Staut on For Joy van’t Zorgvliet HDC. As the Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Watch of the Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM Western European League Series, the Swiss watchmaking brand Longines was proud to grant Geir Gulliksen an elegant timepiece as a reward for his great win.

    2020 HH the Amir The Trophy presented by Longines

    As the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club, Longines was proud to time the victory of French King, ridden by Olivier Peslier, in the much-anticipated HH the Amir The Trophy presented by Longines, on February 22. The thrilling race took place during the annual 3-raceday HH The Amir’s Sword Festival, held at the Al Rayyan Racecourse in Doha (Qatar) from February 20-22. To mark this great victory, the Swiss watchmaker was delighted to present elegant timepieces to the winner’s team. The Official Watch of the Festival was a blue dial chronograph from the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” collection. The sporty timepiece is equipped with an exclusive movement renowned for its high degree of precision (± 5 seconds/year) and its ability to reset its hands after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field.     Longines to partner with the European Equestrian Federation for the Longines EEF Series

    In the context of its collaboration with the European Equestrian Federation (EEF), Longines becomes the Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the Longines EEF Series. This 3* level jumping contest will be connected to the Longines FEI Jumping Nations CupTM Division 1, providing the winning team of the Series a ticket to compete in the Division 1 season the following year. This new Nations Cup circuit will open its doors to the next generation of riders, officials and sporting professionals from the continent. The format is applied for the first time in the 2020 outdoor season and will see the different teams competing in eight regionally organized qualifiers, two semi-finals and a final, taking place in September in Warsaw (POL).   Theo Ploegmakers, EEF President, said: “With the new Longines EEF Series, the European Equestrian Federation is delighted to extend its relation with Longines and to promote the Jumping discipline in Europe. In fact, Longines’ involvement in equestrian universe dates back to the 19th century, when it started producing pocket watches engraved with equine motives. In 1912, the Swiss watch brand first collaborated with an international Show Jumping competition in Portugal. Today Longines’ engagement in equestrian sports worldwide includes competitions in the disciplines of Show Jumping, flat racing, dressage, driving and eventing.   The first qualifier of the Longines EEF Series will take place in Le Touquet (FRA) from 7 to 10 May, 2020.

    Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Western European League in Bordeaux

    On Saturday 8 of February 2020, Swiss rider Steve Guerdat and Victorio Des Frotards claimed victory at the penultimate leg of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Western European League held in Bordeaux. Germany’s Daniel Deusser on Jasmien v. Bisschop took second place followed by Niels Bruynseels (BEL) on Ilusionata van’t Meulenhof. Longines was glad to reward Steve Guerdat with an elegant timepiece to celebrate his great performance. Longines is delighted to be associated as the Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Watch of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ series (Western European League, North American League and China League), at which riders compete for the qualifying points for the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Las Vegas in April 2020.

    Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of USA 2020

    Longines was proud to take part in the opening leg of the 2020 Longines FEI Jumping Nations CupTM season, held on Sunday 16 February in Wellington. Marking the start of 11 qualifying legs leading up to the Final taking place in Barcelona next October, the Longines FEI Jumping Nations CupTM of USA was captured by Team USA. Jessica Springsteen on RMF Zecilie, Margie Goldstein-Engle on Royce, Laura Kraut on Confu and Elizabeth Madden on Darry Lou thus climbed the podium’s first step on their home soil. Team Great Britain took second place ahead of Team Mexico. Earlier this weekend, McLain Ward (USA) on Noche de Ronda claimed the Longines Grand Prix ahead of Ireland’s Billy Twomey on Kimba Flamenco and American rider Margie Goldstein-Engle on Dicas. As the Official Partner, Timekeeper and Watch of this world-class show jumping event, Longines was proud to reward the winners of both competitions with elegant timepieces.

    Three Sundays of exciting competitions and exceptional performances concluded by the Longines 81st Grosser Preis von St. Moritz

    The ties which unite Longines and St. Moritz date backs to over a century. In 1894, Longines sent two chronograph counters to the already famous resort of the Engadin, which would be used as timing devices. It was the beginning of regular partnerships for timekeeping activities, particularly for alpine skiing, and horse racing events.   Since 2015, Longines is the Official Partner and Watch of the village of St. Moritz. In the context of this partnership, the Tourist Office, the Swiss Ski School and the ski lifts of the glamorous alpine resort are featuring the colours of the brand.   Longines and the Equestrian World Longines’ passion for the equestrian world dates back to 1869, when the brand produced its first equestrian pocket watch, displaying a proud horse head. A few years later, in 1878, Longines developed a chronograph movement, fitted in a case engraved with a jockey and his mount.  Seen on the racetracks as early as 1880’s, this type of timepieces proved extremely popular among jockeys and horse-lovers, as it enabled its user to time performances. Today, Longines’ involvement in equestrian sports includes flat racing as well as show jumping, dressage, driving and eventing competitions.     Longines to become Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the first SAUDI CUP

    The Saint-Imier-based company Longines, which has long-term ties with the world of international horseracing, will act as Official Partner, Official Watch and Official Timekeeper of this much-awaited equestrian event, culminating in the SAUDI CUP race itself where its USD$20 million purse will make it one of the world’s most valuable horseraces.   In addition, Longines will become the Title Partner of the LONGINES TURF HANDICAP – a contest over 3000m (1m 7f) on the track’s new, sate-of-the art turf course – the first ever turf competition in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The race, originally named the Red Sea Handicap, has attracted entries from around the world and looks set to become one of the strongest fields ever assembled for a turf race.   Matthieu Baumgartner, Vice President Marketing of Longines said: “We are especially proud to start a new collaboration with the SAUDI CUP as Official Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the event.     White Turf St. Moritz 2020 – 2nd Sunday

    On 09 February Longines timed the victory of Ulster and Clément Lheureux at the Grand Prix Longines during the second Sunday of the White Turf St. Moritz, for which the watchmaker has the honor of being the Official Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch. The Grand Prix Longines is a preparatory race for the Longines Grosser Preis von St. Moritz to be held on 16th February.   Since 1907, the annual White Turf St. Moritz event takes place on the frozen lake of the Graubünden renowned tourist resort during three Sundays in February. Attracting more than 30,000 visitors yearly, it is considered as one of the sporting and social highlight in the winter calendar. This year, the event takes place on February 2, 09 and 16.   The Official Watch of the event is the Conquest V.H.P. (Very High Precision). This 41mm silvered timepiece displays a perpetual calendar and can rely on a very long battery life. With ± 5 sec. per year, this watch combines great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance.

    FIS ALPINE WORLD SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021

    Ready, steady… go! With only one year to go until the next FIS Alpine World Ski Championships scheduled from 7th to 21st February 2021 in Cortina, many sports, mountain and ski lovers all over the world are looking forward to embarking on this thrilling adventure. A brand-new digital clock, designed by Fondazione Cortina 2021 and provided by Longines, Official Main Partner and Timekeeper of the World Championships, will mark the countdown to the international event. In the meanwhile, Cortina is getting ready to host the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals.   The countdown clock located in Piazza Dibona – the same square that this March will host the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals bib draw ceremonies – was unveiled today at 6.30 p.m. in the presence of Gianpietro Ghedina, Mayor of Cortina d’Ampezzo, Valerio Giacobbi, CEO of Fondazione Cortina 2021, and Kristian Ghedina, Cortina 2021 Ambassador, together with the stakeholders, the partners, the townspeople and the media.   The Longines Clock will count down the days, hours and minutes to the international event, and will hit zero on Sunday 7th February 2021, right before the opening ceremony.
