    Swiss siblings Mélanie and Loïc Meillard win the 2018 Longines Rising Ski Stars Prize

    Bringing together the season’s top-25 male and female skiers in each discipline, the FIS Alpine World Cup Finals are taking place this year in the Scandinavian ski resort of Åre, Sweden, which will also host the next FIS Alpine Ski World Championships – both event supported by Longines as the Official Partner and Timekeeper. On the occasion of the Finals, the Swiss watch brand celebrated the conclusion of the season by awarding the Longines Rising Ski Stars Prize. This year, it was a family-shared recognition, as Swiss siblings Mélanie and Loïc Meillard have distinguished themselves as the best female skier (under 21) and the best male skier (under 23) of the 2017/2018 World Cup season. For Mélanie Meillard, 2018 started off well as she claimed her first podium in the FIS Alpine World Cup, finishing third in the City Event in Oslo, Norway. With a total of 431 points at the end of the season, ahead of Katharina Gallhuber (AUT) with 303 points and Katharina Liensberger with 206 points, Mélanie finished ten times in the top-10 in World Cup races. With a score of 299 points at the end of the season, triple Junior World Champion Loïc Meillard had a very good season as well, being amongst the 10 best skiers at five of his World Cup races. Following the Ladies’ slalom race, Loïc Meillard was presented with a Longines timepiece, as well as a trophy and a cheque, from the hands of Longines Vice President and Head of International Marketing Juan-Carlos Capelli and Casper Gebeke, of Longines Sweden. His sister Melanie, who did not participate in the finals due to an injury, was represented by Jérôme Krieg from Swiss-Ski, who received the coveted recognition on her behalf.

    The Queen’s Baton Relay arrived in Cairns

    Today, Australian archery champion Taylor Worth carried the Queen’s Baton in Cairns, with the Conquest V.H.P. Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games at his wrist. Bearing the colours of this great international sporting event, this exceptional timepiece features an engraving of the Gold Coast 2018 logo with the mention “Gold Coast 2018 XXI Commonwealth Games”. Longines is delighted to be the Official Partner of the Queen’s Baton Relay, which is traveling through the nations of the Commonwealth to the Opening Ceremony of the XXI Commonwealth Games on 4 April 2018.     The Heller Family celebrated by Longines and the OSAF

    On 10 March 2018, Longines and the OSAF (Organización Sudamericana de Fomento del Sangre Pura de Carrera) were proud to grant the Heller Family a special award during a gala dinner held at the Hyatt Centric Montevideo in Uruguay. Liliana and Carlos Heller, recipients of the award, are breeders and owners, operating their major Thoroughbred farms in Chile, Stud-Haras Don Alberto, and in Lexington, Kentucky. During the evening, Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice-President of Longines and Head of International Marketing had the pleasure to grant the deserving family elegant Longines timepieces.%break% The ceremony honoring the commitment of the Heller Family in horse racing all around the world and particularly in Latin America was attended by representatives of the discipline. This event was held on the weekend of the Longines Grand Premio Latinoamericano, the most important international Group 1 horse race in Latin America, of which the Swiss watchbrand is the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper.

    Longines renews its partnership with Churchill Downs

    Today marks an important milestone in Longines’ involvement in horse racing in the United States, as the Swiss watch brand has announced the renewal of its long-term partnership with Churchill Downs Racetrack, which started in 2011. Longines will continue its role as the Official Partner, Timekeeper and Watch of the Kentucky Derby and the Title Partner, Timekeeper and Watch of the Longines Kentucky Oaks, on May 4-5, 2018. To celebrate the partnership, Churchill Downs Racetrack and Longines unveiled a new logo for the Longines Kentucky Oaks, the premier race for 3-year-old fillies that is run the day before the Kentucky Derby.  “We are especially proud to be associated with Churchill Downs as an Official Partner of Kentucky Derby week,” said Juan-Carlos Capelli, Longines Vice-President and Head of International Marketing. “We wish to thank them for their valued collaboration throughout the past seven years.     Longines unveils the new Conquest V.H.P. advertising campaign

    On Thursday 15 February 2018, Japanese artistic gymnast and Longines Ambassador of Elegance Kohei Uchimura joined the Swiss watchmaking brand in its elegant Boutique in the district of Ginza in Tokyo for the launch of his new Conquest V.H.P. advertising campaign. On this occasion, Kohei Uchimura proudly signed the new campaign visual and was given the opportunity to discover the numerous brand’s collections on display in the boutique with Juan-Carlos Capelli, Longines Vice President and Head of International Marketing. Kohei also expressed how “hugely honored I am to be part of the Longines family, and I believe that the values close to my heart perfectly match with those dear to Longines.” Considered by many as the best gymnast of all time – a discipline in which Longines has been involved since 1912 – Kohei Uchimura is perfectly in line with Longines’ motto “Elegance is an Attitude”, it was therefore natural for the winged hourglass brand to welcome him in the Longines Family of Ambassadors of Elegance.     The Queen’s Baton Relay arrived in Melbourne

    On 10 February 2018, Australian actress Tessa James had the honor of carrying the Queen’s Baton in Melbourne. She was wearing the Conquest V.H.P. Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, a special edition of the Conquest V.H.P. model bearing the colours of this great international sporting event.     The 2017 Fashion Excellence Award goes to the Longines DolceVita

    Longines was awarded the title of „2017 Fashion Excellence” for its lady collection Longines DolceVita. This is the first award ever granted to Longines by Twój Styl (Your Style) – the leader in the market of upscale magazines for women in Poland. The official gala was held on Friday, Feb. 2 in Warsaw. Fashion Excellence trophies for the best products of the year were awarded by Twój Styl (Your Style)  for the 19th year running. The Jury including Polish fashion stars and celebrities decided to reward the Longines DolceVita collection  in the „Exclusive Watches” category. Fashion Excellence Award by Twój Styl (Your Style) is a precious award for brands which feature quality, prestige and admiration among the clients on the Polish market. The Longines DolceVita collection impressed the Jury with modern elegance and timeless style of women who have made charm a way of life.

    Pieter Devos and Espoir captured the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping leg in Bordeaux

    On Saturday 3 February 2018, Belgian rider Pieter Devos on Espoir finished first at the French leg of the Longines FEI World CupTM Jumping Western European League series. Germany’s Marcus Ehning and Cornado NRW arrived second followed by Spain’s Manuel Fernandez Saro on Cannavaro 9. Longines is the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the series and presented as the Official Watch the Conquest V.H.P “Very High Precision”, which represents a new achievement in the field of quartz and combine great precision, high technicality and a sporty look.

    Today, Longines had the pleasure of inaugurating its newest Boutique in Sydney, Australia. On this occasion, Longines Ambassador of Elegance Aishwarya Rai joined Longines Vice-President and Head of International Marketing Juan-Carlos Capelli to perform the official ribbon cutting ceremony.     The Rugby Sevens official pools were drawn in Gold Coast on 1 February 2018

    Today, the Rugby Sevens draw for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, of which Longines is the Official Timekeeper, took place at Robina Stadium in Gold Coast, Australia. Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President of Longines and Head of International Marketing, as well as Australian and international Rugby Sevens players, attended this exciting event. Longines watch boxes were used for the Men’s and Women’s Rugby Sevens draws. The boxes, containing the V.H.P. Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, a special edition of the Conquest V.H.P. meant as a tribute to the Games, also displayed the names of the countries participating in the Rugby Sevens competition. As Presenting Partner of Rugby Sevens, Longines is looking forward to the competition, featuring some of the best teams in the world. Besides, for the first time in the history of the Commonwealth Games, women’s rugby competition will also be held at Robina Stadium, from 13 to 15 April 2018.
