    Royal Ascot 2019

    This week, the Ascot racecourse (UK) hosts one of the world’s most anticipated sports event of the year: the Royal Meeting. The Swiss watch brand Longines is honoured to take part in this prestigious horse racing rendezvous as its Official Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch.   On Wednesday, 19 June, Longines had the pleasure to invite its Ambassador of Elegance Chi Ling Lin to experience the Royal Meeting’s unique atmosphere. Following the remarkable victory of Dashing Willoughby in the Queen’s Vase race, the acclaimed Asian actress, together with Longines Vice President Richard Strohmeier, presented elegant timepieces to the winning owners (Mick and Janice Mariscotti), trainer (Andrew Balding), jockey (Oisin Murphy), and groom (Angela Cheshire). Later on that day, the owner (Sir Evelyn and Lady Lynn De Rothschild), the trainer’s representative, the jockey (Frankie Dettori) and the groom (Corrado Morale) of Crystal Ocean, the winning horse of the Prince of Wales’ Stakes, also received elegant Longines watches from the hands of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.   In line with the refinement of the Royal Meeting, Longines is proud to highlight the Official Watch of Royal Ascot, a steel and gold model from the Record collection.     Prix de Diane Longines 2019

    The much-awaited Prix de Diane Longines, of which Longines was the Title Partner for the 9th consecutive year, saw the incredible victory of Channel and Pierre-Charles Boudot (FR) in the world’s biggest race for fillies. The Swiss watchmaking brand was delighted to present the owner, trainer and jockey of Channel with elegant timepieces from the hands of its Ambassador of Elegance Simon Baker. The acclaimed Australian actor joined the Longines Family in 2012 and was introduced as a new Longines Ambassador of Elegance during that year’s edition of the Prix de Diane Longines. With no fewer than nine races to rhythm this prestigious and glamorous event, the Prix de Diane Longines offered great sports emotions for the delight of all equestrian lovers in attendance. As the Official Timekeeper of the event, Longines was particularly proud to be part of the Prix Longines Future Racing Stars and the Prix de la Reine Marie-Amélie Longines. The former is open to young jockey from riding schools across the world, while the latter showcases the female riders from the FEGENTRI (International Federation of Gentlemen and Lady Riders). French jockey Thomas Trullier riding Espionne set themselves apart in the Prix Longines Future Racing Stars and Tereza Grbavcicova (CZE) and her mount Bubble Brook crossed the finishing line first in the Prix de La Reine Marie-Amélie Longines. The brand had thus the great honor of granting both winners with an elegant Longines watch as well as a school bursary to the youngest winner. On the occasion of the 170th edition of this equestrian rendezvous of elegance, the sumptuous Chantilly racecourse was adorned with colourful motifs of racing silks for the greatest pleasure of the elegantly dressed spectators. Together with its Partner France Galop, Longines organized the “Mademoiselle Diane by Longines” award, celebrating the most elegant lady at the racecourse. This year, Abigail Lopez-Cruz was selected by the jury as the winner and had the honour to receive an elegant timepiece belonging to the Record collection from the hands of Simon Baker.     Archery World Championships 2019

    As the Official Partner and Timekeeper of the World Archery Federation, Longines plays a key role in timing the competitors and presenting the results for all the contests in the Archery World Cup and in the Archery World Championships. In the context of the 2019 Archery World Championships, which took place in the Dutch city of s'Hertogenbosch from June 10-16, 2019, Official Partner and Timekeeper Longines presented recurve winners Lei Chien-Ying (TWN) and Brady Ellison (USA), as well as compound winners Natalia Avdeeva (RUS) and James Lutz (USA) with elegant Longines timepieces.   The Official Watch of the 2019 Archery World Championships is a model from the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” collection, which represents a new achievement in the field of quartz, combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance.     Longines Global Champions Tour of Stockholm

    The eighth leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour, of which Longines is the Title Partner and the Official Timekeeper, was rounded off this Saturday in Stockholm with the remarkable home win of Peder Fredricson on H&M All In in the weekend’s highlight competition, namely the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Stockholm. Therefore, Longines was delighted to grant him an elegant timepiece as a reward for his great performance.   This weekend of intense competition was the perfect occasion for Longines to present the Official Watch of the event, a model of the iconic HydroConquest collection, which combines technical excellence and traditional excellence, both distinguished hallmarks of the brand.     Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Poland - Sopot

    Team Belgium won the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ competition at Sopot on Sunday, while Team Ireland and Team France took second and third place respectively. On Friday evening, Germany’s Daniel Deusser on Jasmien vd Bisschop took the victory in the Longines Grand Prix, followed by Latvia’s Kristaps Neretnieks on Moon Ray and Netherland’s Kevin Jochems on Cristelo.

    Successfully defending the title won by his wife Jonelle last year, Tim Pize (NZL) won the Longines CCI5*-L with Ascona M in a nail-biting finish. Tom McEwen (GBR) with Figaro van het Broekxhof and Alex Bragg (GBR) with Zagreb finished second and third respectively.

    Longines Balve Optimum

    Last week, Longines was proud to take part for the first time in the Longines Balve Optimum as its Title Partner, Official Watch and Official Timekeeper. This Show jumping and Dressage competition takes place every summer since 1948 in the German city of Balve. This year, the equestrian event was held from June 13 to June 16.   Longines Marketing Vice President, Matthieu Baumgartner commented: "We are especially proud to associate our name with the Longines Balve Optimum. This new partnership reinforces our long-lasting passion for the equestrian universe, which dates back one century and half. More particularly, we, at Longines, attach a great importance to support events that are aligned with our core values of tradition, elegance and performance, which are perfectly embodied by the Longines Balve Optimum.”   On Sunday, 16 June, the Dressage rider Isabell Werth and her mount Emilio 107 claimed the title of the Longines Grosser Optimum Preis. Later that day, Felix Hassmann and his horse Cayenne WZ won the Longines Optimum Preis show jumping competition. To celebrate their victory, Longines was proud to present the two winners with elegant timepieces.   The spectators present in Balve had the opportunity to discover the Official Watch of the event: a model from the HydroConquest Collection. Combining technical excellence and traditional elegance both hallmarks of the winged hourglass brand, this line features a bezel enhanced with a coloured ceramic insert adding a touch of brilliance and modern styling.

    On the eve of the much-awaited Prix de Diane Longines, the Swiss watchmaking brand held a special event in the breath-taking setting of the Château de Chantilly with its Ambassadors of Elegance and acclaimed actors Kate Winslet and Simon Baker. Longines was proud to welcome them for the very first time together in a same venue. Before attending this elegant celebration, Kate Winslet and Simon Baker had the opportunity to take part in a joint photoshooting, a premiere for the two actors, highlighting a pair watch from the Record collection.     Terry Pheto welcomed as Longines Family Member

    The Longines Family continues to grow with the entry of the South African actress, film producer and business woman, Terry Pheto. The official welcoming took place on Thursday, 13 June, at the Swiss watchmaker’s headquarters in Saint-Imier (Switzerland), where the new Longines Family Member was welcomed by the brand’s management and given a private tour of the establishment.   “I am particularly honoured to become a Longines Family Member. Today, I have had the chance to visit Longines’ headquarter in Switzerland, discovering the company’s fascinating history. %break%Collaborating with a brand that has been around for such a long time is a tremendous responsibility, but also a great opportunity,” said Terry Pheto.   The South African actress was first welcomed by Longines as a Friend of the Brand in 2017 and their relationship over the past two years has blossomed. Terry Pheto, who shot to fame for her role in the Oscar-winning movie Tsotsi, now joins a select, handpicked, group of Longines Family Members from across the globe representing the brand in different territories.
