Erynn Ballard on Fantast emerged victorious in the Longines Speed Challenge
April 28, 2018
Held for the first time of its history in New York City, the third and final leg of the Longines Masters series, of which Longines is the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper, was marked tonight by the victory of Erynn Ballard on Fantast in the Longines Speed Challenge, known as the world’s fastest trial. The challenge for the competitors of this event is to achieve the quickest time, knowing that a fault only leads to a two-second penalty, instead of the usual four. The Canadian rider was presented with a Longines timepiece from the hands of Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President and Head of International Marketing, and Margret E. Ericsdottir, President of the Golden Hat Foundation.
The evening was indeed dedicated to autism awareness, as both Longines and EEM chose to support care for autism across three continents, by conveying a message of inclusion and the chance to make dreams come true. The US leg provided support to the Golden Hat Foundation, co-founded by Longines Ambassador of Elegance Kate Winslet, who attended the event. On behalf of the foundation, the British actress was invited to receive a cheque, comprising the benefit of the online auction of three exclusive “Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet” timepieces which was run last year.
Furthermore, the brand had the pleasure to count some prestigious personalities amongst its guests, such as American riders Jessica Springsteen, Ariana Rockefeller and Georgina Bloomberg. Last but not least, as per the two first legs of the Longines Masters series in Paris and Hong Kong, digital influencers Ali Gordon, Matt Harnacke, Andrea Denver, Marcus Chan and Leonie Hanne, were in attendance, together with Spain’s Marta González Tarruella, who joined the event for the first time.
