Peder Fredricson claimed victory at the Longines Global Champions Grand Prix of Cannes

On Saturday 9th June, the victory of Peder Fredricson (SWE) on Hansson WL in the Longines Global Champions Grand Prix of Cannes rounded off a phenomenal weekend in an exceptional setting, near the famous Croisette. Harrie Smolders (NED) on Emerald took the second place, followed by Simon Delestre (FRA) on Hermes Ryan. Longines was proud to grant Peder Fredricson with an elegant timepiece as a reward for his great achievement. Cannes was the seventh leg of the Longines Global Champions tour, a 17-stage series of which Longines is the proud Title Partner and Official Timekeeper.

The overall Longines Global Champions Tour ranking battle is already an intense affair, with Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS) leading the charge for the 2018 season with 172 points, followed by Ben Maher (GBR) with 143 points and Scott Brash (GBR) with 131 points. This victory handed Peder Fredricson the seventh golden ticket to the Longines Global Champions Super Grand Prix, which will be staged on December in Prague.

The Official Watch of the 2018 Longines Global Champions Tour of Cannes is a lady model from the Record collection, featuring a white mother-of-pearl dial and diamond indexes. This line combines classic elegance and excellence, aspiring to become the spearheads of the brand. Moreover, all pieces in this collection house a chronometer movement with unique properties, certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

Longines’ passion for equestrian sport dates back to 1878, when it produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his mount. Three years later, it can be found on American racecourses, adopted by horse enthusiasts. In 1912, the company partnered for the first time with an international show jumping competition. Today Longines’ involvement in equestrian sports includes show-jumping, flat racing, endurance, driving, dressage and eventing competitions.
