Longines joins its Ski Athletes to kick off the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup 2024/2025 in Sölden

The world’s greatest skiers returned to Sölden (Austria) on 25 October for the start of a brand-new Alpine Ski World Cup season. As the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the International Ski Federation (FIS), Longines was on the slopes with the world’s extraordinary alpine ski talents and timed their stunning performances. As part of the launch of the new season, Longines joined its Ski Ambassadors Mikaela Shiffrin and Marco Odermatt during the FIS Race Talk on Friday, 25 October, to reinforce its close ties with alpine skiing and to celebrate sporty elegance.

A new lucky charm for Marco Odermatt and Mikaela Shiffrin

To mark the start of the new ski season, Longines was proud to unveil the new Conquest Chrono Ski Edition. The brand’s Ski Ambassadors Marco Odermatt and Mikaela Shiffrin were there to discover and try on the latest model. Limited to 2025 pieces, this chronograph combines a robust build and sporty elegance, highlighting the close links between Longines and alpine skiing that go back over a century.

Longines and alpine skiing: over 100 years of timekeeping

Driven by its spirit of innovation and its passion for the world of sport, Longines has been associated with alpine skiing since the early 20th century. It all began in 1924 when, for the first time, the brand supplied the timing equipment for a ski race held not far from its factory in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Later, at the Alpine World Ski Championships in Chamonix in 1937, Longines tested photoelectric cells for the first time, revolutionising the accuracy of timekeeping at the finish line.

Since then, the brand has played a leading role in the development of timekeeping in alpine disciplines by designing ever more advanced timekeeping systems. The latest innovation is Longines Live Alpine Data, which measures and transmits live, very precise data on the skiers during their races.

Drawing on its extensive expertise in timekeeping, Longines is now the Official Partner of the International Ski Federation (FIS). The brand has also established an active presence in winter sports as the Official Timekeeper of the men's and women's FIS Alpine Ski World Cups, as well as the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships every two years. Throughout the season, the brand is also proud to support and immortalize the achievements of their brilliant Athletes: Mikaela Shiffrin, Marco Odermatt, Loïc Meillard, Clément Noël, Alex Vinatzer, Mélanie Meillard, Lara Colturi and Alexis Monney.
