Three Sundays of exciting competitions and exceptional performances concluded by the Longines 81st Grosser Preis von St. Moritz

The ties which unite Longines and St. Moritz date backs to over a century. In 1894, Longines sent two chronograph counters to the already famous resort of the Engadin, which would be used as timing devices. It was the beginning of regular partnerships for timekeeping activities, particularly for alpine skiing, and horse racing events.   Since 2015, Longines is the Official Partner and Watch of the village of St. Moritz. In the context of this partnership, the Tourist Office, the Swiss Ski School and the ski lifts of the glamorous alpine resort are featuring the colours of the brand.   Longines and the Equestrian World Longines’ passion for the equestrian world dates back to 1869, when the brand produced its first equestrian pocket watch, displaying a proud horse head. A few years later, in 1878, Longines developed a chronograph movement, fitted in a case engraved with a jockey and his mount.  Seen on the racetracks as early as 1880’s, this type of timepieces proved extremely popular among jockeys and horse-lovers, as it enabled its user to time performances. Today, Longines’ involvement in equestrian sports includes flat racing as well as show jumping, dressage, driving and eventing competitions. The brand chose to support these sports as a perfect illustration of its core values: Tradition, Elegance and Performance. As part of its engagement with the equestrian world, the watchmaker is also proud to support major equestrian institutions, such as the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) and the International Federation of Gentlemen and Lady Riders (FEGENTRI).   Held on the frozen lake of the Swiss village of St. Moritz, the White Turf race came to a perfect conclusion today with the remarkable victory of Wargrave on Dennis Schiergen in the Longines Grosser Preis von St. Moritz.   As the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of this thrilling sports event, Longines was proud to time this much-awaited race, considered as the highest purse in Switzerland.
