Longines times the Lauberhorn races in Wengen

The legendary Lauberhorn race in Wengen is the oldest and perhaps the most difficult of the classic races to win. Longines was proud to be part of this world-class event as its Official Partner and Timekeeper and to present an elegant timepiece to the winners of the three trials of the weekend: Austria’s Marco Schwarz (alpine combined) and Vincent Kriechmayr (downhill), as well as France’s Clément Noël (slalom).

The Longines Family welcomes Swiss Alpine skier Marco Odermatt as its new member

The Longines Family continues to grow with the entry of the Swiss Alpine skier Marco Odermatt. The young athlete from Canton Nidwald, born on 8 October 1997, notably won five gold medals in the Alpine Combined, Downhill, Super-G, Giant Slalom and Team Event at the 2018 FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Davos, Switzerland. This impressive performance, together with the two medals he claimed in the 2016 event (gold in Giant Slalom and bronze in Super-G), made him become the second most successful male junior in history.%break%Having made his World Cup debut in 2016, Odermatt has a promising future ahead of him, as he already achieved three Top-10 this season, in Giant Slalom (Val d’Isère and Adelboden) and Super G (Bormio).

This new collaboration echoes Longines’ long lasting involvement in alpine skiing, as Official Partner and Timekeeper of the FIS. By welcoming Marco Odermatt in the prestigious Longines Family, the winged hourglass brand strengthens its support to the champions of tomorrow.

Longines Ambassadors of Elegance Stefanie Graf and Andre Agassi unveil Longines first Melbourne Boutique

On Wednesday 16 January 2019, Longines inaugurated its first Boutique in Melbourne, located in the heart of Collins Street, Melbourne’s premier shopping strip. Longines Ambassadors of Elegance Stefanie Graf and Andre Agassi joined the Swiss watch brand for the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony. Elegant by design and housing some of Longines’ most exclusive timepieces, the newest retail outlet is 74-square metres.

“We are delighted to open our first Boutique in Melbourne and to offer our Australian customers the opportunity to discover our watches and to enjoy Longines universe in a premium environment”, commented Walter von Känel, President of Longines. Andre Agassi said, “Melbourne feels like home after competing in nine Australian Opens since 1995. My wife and I feel privileged to officially open this beautiful store and celebrate the innate elegance of the brand.”

On this occasion, Stefanie Graf and Andre Agassi presented the Conquest V.H.P. Stefanie Graf & Andre Agassi Foundations to the generous buyers, who acquired these bespoke timepieces created to celebrate the 10-year milestone with both tennis legends. Limited to 10 pieces, these exclusive models were auctioned last year with all proceeds going to Children for Tomorrow and the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education, two charities founded by the Ambassadors of Elegance.

Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Western European League - Longines CSI 5* Basel

Longines is Official Partner, Official Chronometer and Official Watch of the FEI. The watch brand also is the Title Partner of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ - Western European League. At Sunday’s spectacular Swiss leg of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ - Western European League, the best pair was Martin Fuchs (SUI) and Clooney who imposed themselves over Marc Houtzager (NED) on Sterrehof's Calimero and Pieter Devos (BEL) on Apart respectively second and third. The winner was presented with an elegant Longines timepiece to celebrate her victory.

At the Longines Grand Prix on Friday, Niels Bruynseels (BEL) on Delux van T & L won the competition, followed by Marc Houtzager (NED) on Sterrehof's Calimero and Philippe Rozier (FRA) on Cristallo A Lm.

The Longines CSI Basel is the perfect setting for Longines to present the Official Watch of this year’s event, an elegant model from the Record collection that features a mother-of-pearl dial and is set with diamonds. The Record range combines classic elegance and excellence, aspiring to become the spearheads of the brand. Each of its calibers includes a single-crystal silicon balance spring with unique properties and is certified as a “chronometer” by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

The partnership between the brand and the Longines CSI Basel reinforces the brand’s traditional commitment in equestrian sports and make it a major player in this field. Longines has been associated with the equestrian world since its inception. The oldest known Longines watch decorated with equestrian motifs dates from 1869, and ushered in a handsome series of equestrian-themed pocket watches. The brand’s early ties with horses encouraged the watchmakers of Saint-Imier to pursue advances in sports timekeeping for equestrian competitions. In 1878, the winged hourglass brand developed its first chronograph movement, the legendary 20H. In addition, the Swiss watch brand was associated for the first time with a show jumping event in 1912. Today, Longines is passionately committed to the equestrian world and its various disciplines.

Swiss siblings Mélanie and Loïc Meillard officially join the Longines Family

Swiss watch brand Longines is proud to officially welcome ski racers and Swiss siblings Mélanie and Loïc Meillard in its Family. The athletes were notably awarded this year the Longines Rising Ski Stars Prize as the best female skier (under 21) and the best male skier (under 23) of the 2017/2018 World Cup season respectively.

Despite a knee injury, which has kept her off the slopes since February 2018, Mélanie Meillard had an outstanding 2017/2018 season, with a third place in the City Event in Oslo (Norway), and placed ten times in the top-10 during the World Cup. During the last season, triple Junior World Champion Loïc Meillard finished amongst the 10 best skiers in seven of his World Cup races. In the current season, he achieved his two best results in World Cup in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, as he stepped onto the second step of podium, both in slalom and giant slalom.
