LONGINES celebrates a century of alpine skiing innovation at 2025 FIS World Championships

LONGINES continued its legacy in alpine skiing as Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the 48th FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Saalbach / Salzburgerland, Austria. The championship took place from 4 to 16 February 2025, marking a major milestone in LONGINES’ century-long commitment to the sport.

“These 48th FIS Alpine World Ski Championships are about more than just timing excellence for us. It embodies our dedication to alpine skiing that began in 1924 near our headquarters in Saint-Imier,” says Matthias Breschan, LONGINES’ CEO. “Today, we’re proud to support not only the technical accuracy that defines these championships but also the remarkable athletes who exemplify our ethos that elegance is an attitude — even on skis.”

The 48th FIS Alpine World Ski Championships were hosted in a unified ski area in the Austrian state of Salzburg that encompasses the three resorts of Saalbach Hinterglemm, Saalfelden Leogang and Fieberbrunn. The LONGINES timing team supported all competitors with their extensive experience in sports timekeeping and data processing, deploying approximately 20 technicians, more than 80 information systems for media commentators, and some 10 tonnes of specialized equipment.

The event included an impressive lineup of LONGINES athletes, led by world champions Marco Odermatt (SUI) and Mikaela Shiffrin (USA), whose careers have exemplified excellence in alpine skiing. They were joined by a roster of talented competitors, such as Loïc Meillard (SUI), Alex Vinatzer (ITA), Alexis Monney (SUI), Clément Noël (FRA), Mélanie Meillard (SUI) and Lara Colturi (ALB).

To commemorate this prestigious event, LONGINES presented the official watch of the championships: the Conquest Chrono Ski Edition. Limited to 2,025 pieces, this chronograph combines robust functionality with design sophistication, featuring a 42mm stainless steel case and LONGINES’ exclusive calibre. The watch sports a silicon balance spring and advanced components for optimal resistance to magnetic fields and can be worn with either a stainless steel bracelet with a triple-security folding clasp or a black rubber strap.

This timepiece embodies a fusion of LONGINES’ heritage in precise timekeeping and dedication to quality watchmaking, while representing the brand’s enduring relationship with alpine skiing.
