Longines Ambassador Mikaela Shiffrin accepted the ESPY Award for "Best Athlete" at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
On Wednesday July 12th, Longines ski athlete Mikaela Shiffrin won the ESPY Award for "Best Athlete : Women’s Sport" while wearing a Longines DolceVita watch.
Los Angeles, July 12th, 2023 - Mikaela Shiffrin was nominated for two awards, ‘Best Athlete: Women’s Sport” and “Best record-breaking performance”.
This year, Mikaela won her 88th World Cup race, and she ranks first all-time in FIS Alpine Ski World Cup career wins, setting a record for most World Cup victories of all time. With victories in all five alpine skiing disciplines, Mikaela has made her versatility an asset and her achievements have earned her a place among the greatest skiers in history. Mikaela won her first World Cup race in 2011 at the age of 15, her first World Slalom title in 2013 at the age of 17 and became Olympic Slalom Champion in Sochi in 2014. She is the only athlete to have won the Longines Rising Ski Stars for three consecutive years (2013 to 2015), an award recognising her status as the best Under 21 Skier on the circuit.
Longines has never stopped improving its sports timing techniques. Consistently pioneering technology, it has sped up the progress and measured the records of the ski circuit since 2006, when it signed its partnership with the International Ski Federation (FIS). As Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup tour and of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2023 and 2025, Longines will also see its ski athletes take the start of a new season of podium finishes.
