Kate Winslet

World-renowned for her depth, authenticity and emotional range, Kate Winslet has built a remarkable career portraying complex character across film and television.

She made her impressive film debut at the age of 17 in Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures. Her first Academy Award nomination came for Ang Lee’s Sense and Sensibility at the age of 19, but it was ultimately her portrayal of Rose in Titanic that introduced her to a wider global audience and at the age of 22 she earned her a second Oscar nomination. She won the Oscar for Best Actress in 2009 for The Reader, a performance that also garnered her a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Awards for her role as Hanna Schmitz. Kate made history that year becoming one of very few actresses to win two Golden Globes in the same ceremony when she also won the best supporting actress award for her performance as April Wheeler in Revolutionary Road. In total, she has received seven Academy Award nominations, 14 Golden Globe nominations, and 13 BAFTA nominations. Which include for her work in Sense and Sensibility, Iris, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Little Children and Steve Jobs. 

In addition to her acclaimed acting career, Kate Winslet has also distinguished herself as a producer. Her focus being mainly on creating equality in the work place, with a particular focus on ensuring that women in production are given opportunities and often for the first time in their careers. Kate’s focus is on crafting on-set environments that not only foster the work of great crafts people, but one that elevates those women who are yet to be offered the same opportunities as their male counterparts, with the intention of supporting more women in the film and television industry. Her film Lee, in which she portrays war correspondent Lee Miller, earned nominations for both a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award, further underscoring her influence both in front of and behind the camera.

Beyond her artistic achievements, she is committed to social causes. In 2010, she founded the Golden Hat Foundation to support children with autism, and in 2017 she collaborated with LONGINES on a limited-edition timepiece, with proceeds benefiting her foundation.
