Ski champion Mélanie Meillard joined the Longines Family in 2019
Alpine skiing has always been part of Mélanie Meillard’s life, as she first put on skis at the age of 2. She started this sport for fun, before joining the Ski Club Hérémencia, which led her to compete.
Bronze medalist in giant slalom at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Sochi, she became National Swiss champion in slalom and giant slalom the following year.
In the FIS World Cup, she has achieved six top-10 finishes in the 2016/2017 season, and ten top-10 finishes in the following season, leading her to win the Longines Rising Ski Star title, a prize which rewards the best young female skier under 21 and the best male skier under 23 of the FIS World Cup.
Despite a knee injury during training at Pyeongchang 2018, which kept her off the slopes for the entire 2018/2019 season, she made a great comeback in Levi in 2020 by finishing in the Top-10 in slalom, thus demonstrating her impressive strength and courage in her beloved sport.
