On 18 December 2020, Swiss watch brand Longines had the pleasure to celebrate the opening of its new corporate Boutique at Xinyi FET A13 in Taipei, Taiwan. This event was the occasion for the brand to invite its Ambassador of Elegance and renown actress Chi Ling Lin. True to the brand’s timeless elegance, the Boutique offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere and displays Longines’ various collections. The celebration started with a group of kids’ dance and sing performance, which was joined by Chi Ling Lin for the greatest pleasure of people in attendance. Wearing an elegant black dress, Chi Ling Lin perfectly embodied Longines’ slogan “Elegance is an Attitude”. On her wrist, a black-dial model with leather strap from the Longines Spirit collection: “If I had to choose a watch for a Christmas gift, I’d go for a Longines Spirit. I was seduced by the pioneering spirit behind this collection and I love the contemporary design of those timepieces”. This event was also the occasion for Longines to give its support to Chi Ling Lin’s Charity Foundation, which helps children in need. Heidi Chu, Country Manager from Swatch Group Taiwan represented Longines and made a donation to Chi Ling Lin’s organization. In addition, the brand participated in the creation of a Charity Gift Set including a 2021 calendar and a card signed by Chi Ling Lin. Starting on 18 December and until 31 January, those gifts will be offered for any purchase of a Longines Spirit timepiece in the new Boutique. With the holiday season around the corner, Longines is holding a “Season’s Greeting Watch Exhibition” at the first floor of Xinyi FET A13 until the 3 January. The exhibition highlights the brand’s blue dials collections, such as The Longines Master Collection, La Grande Classique de Longines, the Longines DolceVita or The Longines Spirit.
As the FEI’s Top Partner, Longines is proud to take part in the FEI Awards and to present one of the five categories, namely the Longines Rising Star Award. With the Gala cancelled this year due to the pandemic, the winners were revealed online in a moving video narrated by British Paralympic champion Natasha Baker. The Awards celebrate, since 2009, people and organizations that are making an outstanding contribution to the progress and excellence of equestrian sports. In this context, Longines is delighted to lend its name to the Longines Rising Star Award, which rewards athletes between the ages of 14 and 21 demonstrating remarkable equestrian sporting talent. The Swiss watchmaking brand has always had at heart to encourage youngsters to practice sports and to surpass themselves. This Award was claimed by German Dressage rider Semmieke Rothenberger for the second year in a row. Longines Ambassador of Elegance Sönke Rothenberger’s sister was overcome with emotion when her family held a surprise presentation of the award at their home in Germany. “I’m very grateful that so many people voted for me and that there is such a big fan base of people that support me,” Semmieke Rothenberger said. “It is also quite surreal because there were so many good athletes in this category, including my brother Sönke, so I didn’t really expect that I would win it again.”%break%The 21-year-old, winner of 22 FEI European Championship medals through all the youth categories right up to Young Riders, has even bigger goals for the future. Along with Eventing legend Ingrid Klimke (Peden Bloodstock FEI Best Athlete), Carmen Thiemann (Cavalor FEI Best Groom Award), Angelika Trabert (FEI Against All Odds Award) and the Ebony Horse Club (FEI Solidarity Award), Semmieke received an elegant Longines timepiece to celebrate her win. “We are delighted to once again celebrate Semmieke Rothenberger’s dedication to equestrian sport and we applaud her determination, passion and energy, which we are confident will take her to the very top in her sporting career” commented Matthieu Baumgartner, Longines Vice President Marketing.
