Longines continues its proud association with the SAUDI CUP as Official Partner and Timekeeper

RIYADH

The eyes of the equestrian community focused on the 2022 SAUDI CUP that took place from February 25th to 26th at the King Abdulaziz Racetrack, in Riyadh (KSA). As the Platinum Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the event, Longines continued to forge close ties with elite jockeys and horses vying for success at what is known as one of the world’s richest horse races, further extending its support to all levels of horseracing with its timekeeping expertise.

On 13 February Longines timed the victory of Mordred and Sibylle Vogt at the Longines Grand Prix during the second Sunday of the White Turf St. Moritz, for which the watchmaker has the honor of being the Official Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch. The Grand Prix Longines is a preparatory race for the Longines Grosser Preis von St. Moritz to be held on 20th February.

The Longines World Racing Awards honor the Best of the Best in 2021

Co-organized by Swiss watch brand Longines and the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA), the ninth edition of the Longines World Racing Awards honoured the top Thoroughbred racehorses, horse race, and jockey of the previous year.

 

From the National Horse Racing Museum in Newmarket, England, presenter Francesca Cumani revealed that the title of 2021 Longines World’s Best Racehorse belonged to Knicks Go (USA), while the 2021 Longines World’s Best Horse Race was the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1) in France. The LONGINES Hong Kong International Races saw the world’s best horses and jockeys bring a wealth of experience and claim stellar victories in no fewer than four Group 1 races. Joao Moreira took a spectacular win in the LONGINES Hong Kong Vase atop Glory Vase, Sky Field won the LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint with Blake Shinn on board. Golden Sixty ridden by Vincent claimed a brilliant victory at the LONGINES Hong Kong Mile, while Loves Only You with Yuga Kawada in the saddle kept gold in their sights and won the LONGINES Hong Kong Cup.

The world’s top international jockeys gathered at the Happy Valley Racecourse in Hong Kong SAR and competed in adrenaline-fueled races for the 2021 LONGINES International Jockeys’ Championship.  This year, Zac Purton raced against the clock and took home the LONGINES International Jockeys’ Championship with 22 points, ahead of the four first runners-up Hollie Doyle, James McDonald, Tom Marquand and Mickael Barzalona. Fancy Blue is the new queen of the Prix de Diane Longines

PARIS

The 171st edition of the Prix de Diane Longines held at the idyllic Chantilly racecourse on July 5th 2020, saw the triumph of Fancy Blue ridden by Pierre-Charles Boudot. The French jockey claimed victory for the second consecutive year as he already took first place in 2019 with Channel. Second place was taken by Alpine Star and Stéphane Pasquier followed by Peaceful ridden by James Anthony Heffernan. As the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club, Longines was proud to time the victory of French King, ridden by Olivier Peslier, in the much-anticipated HH the Amir The Trophy presented by Longines, on February 22.
