Considered by many as one of the most beautiful women in the world, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was born in Mangalore (India) on November 1st, 1973. Early on, her striking beauty and encouragement from those around her led her to pursue modeling, which she practiced while studying architecture. After having phenomenal success, she became a professional model. At this time, she was sought after by the Indian film industry, particularly by Bollywood, but was participating in the Miss India contest. After winning the title, she went on to represent her country in the 1994-1995 Miss World contest, which she won. She went on to accept the numerous film propositions she had received from the Indian film industry; she began her acting career in 1996, becoming increasingly successful, and received several awards (including the Indian equivalent of the Oscars) and recognitions.
