A brilliant alpine athlete who focuses on technical competitions, Loïc Meillard (born in 1996) is a native of Neuchâtel, a city close to Longines’ headquarters in St-Imier (SUI). Skiing since the age of two, he quickly rose through the ranks once he began competing.
In 2015 and 2017, he won numerous medals at the FIS Junior World Championships in Hafjell (NOR) and Åre (SWE), including three gold, one silver and one bronze medal. During the 2018 season, he achieved five top-10 finishes on the FIS World Cup circuit and received the Longines Rising Ski Star Award as the best skier on the under-23 circuit.
After several podium finishes in 2019, he achieved his first World Cup victory in 2020 in the parallel giant slalom. At the FIS World Championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo (ITA) in 2021, he won two bronze medals, in the alpine combined and the parallel slalom.
In 2023, he won his first FIS Alpine Ski World Cup giant slalom race in Schladming (AUT) and a silver medal at the World Championships in Courchevel-Méribel (FRA). The 2023–2024 season was a success, with Loïc finishing in the top three seven times, including two victories (slalom in Aspen, USA, and giant slalom in Saalbach, AUT), and ranking second in both the overall World Cup and the giant slalom World Cup.
In 2024–2025, eight podium finishes – including a third place in giant slalom and a second place in slalom – propelled him to third place in the overall World Cup standings, third in giant slalom and second in slalom.
In February 2025, at the World Championships in Saalbach (AUT), Loïc was crowned World Champion in slalom and in the team combined event, and also won the bronze medal in giant slalom.
