Alexis Monney (born 2000) joined the Longines Athletes family in 2024. A talented downhill skier, he first put on skis at the age of two at his home resort of Les Paccots in Switzerland. After exploring various other sports, he chose to fully commit to alpine skiing at the age of 12, supported by his father, Louis, an experienced instructor and former coach of a famous Swiss downhill racer. This decision, combined with constant hard work, is now bearing fruit.
Alexis made his debut in the FIS Europa Cup in December 2019 and, a few months later, won gold in the downhill at the 2020 FIS Junior World Championships in Narvik (NOR).
In the 2020/2021 season, he was called up to the Swiss national team and competed at the World Cup for the first time.
By 2022/2023, he was posting impressive results at legendary events: tenth at Wengen, eleventh at Kitzbühel and eighteenth at the Courchevel-Méribel World Championships. In January 2024, he solidified the potential he had shown with a twelfth place at Wengen and a twentieth at Kitzbühel.
Then, in December 2024, he achieved his first victory in the downhill at Bormio (ITA). He followed this up with four more World Cup podium finishes (in super-G and downhill), including a second place on the legendary Streif course at Kitzbühel. His rise continued at the World Championships in Saalbach (AUT) in February 2025, where he won bronze in the downhill and silver in the team combined event.
In the overall World Cup standings, he made an impressive leap from sixtieth to ninth, while finishing eighth in the super-G rankings and third in the downhill.
