Extreme sports pioneer Géraldine Fasnacht joins the Longines Family

The Swiss adventurer has more in common with Longines than a pioneering reputation; for both, timing truly is everything.

Géraldine Fasnacht is known by a few different names and titles: 2021 Adventurer of the Year by the French magazine Paris Match, “Bird Woman,” youngest-ever female champion of Xtreme Verbier, artist, and most recently, Longines Family member. The world-renowned freeride snowboarder, base jumper, wingsuit and plane pilot carves new limits with every turn and every flight. She’s a pioneer on the snow and in the air, and, as she puts it, is living her dream.

Today, she joins the Swiss watchmaker’s family of ambassadors who embody the spirit of the brand and personify the elegance, pioneering spirit and sporting excellence that it stands for.

Géraldine Fasnacht is equally thrilled to join Longines: “I am delighted to be joining the Longines family. The brand values and history perfectly represent my persona and activities as an adventurer in the air and in the mountains. Longines has a history of famous women pioneers conquering land, sea and air while pushing their courage and breaking new boundaries. I look forward to be part of that mission whilst carrying the elegance of Longines timepieces throughout my adventures.”

Originally from Poliez-le-Grand in the Swiss canton of Vaud, Géraldine Fasnacht learned to snowboard in Verbier where her family spent its free time. She grew up idolizing the snowboards who particpated in the Xtreme Verbier and tackled the Bec des Rosses. In 2002, her dream became a reality when she was asked to compete in the event. At just 21 years old, much younger than her opponents, she went on to win the final.

Her story of adventure continued from winning titles in the Freeride World Tour to skydiving and eventually base jumping. In 2014, she set another record when she became the first ever wingsuit pilot to fly from the summit of the Matterhorn. Her passion has led her to Canada’s remote Baffin Islands, Iran and Antarctica, but she will always call Switzerland home.

The literal trailblazer likens her craft more to artistry than extreme sports. She doesn’t conquer nature – her passion blends with the harmony of earths’ greatest peaks and valleys. She has also say that she draws lines in the snow and air when she’s riding with her snowboard or flying her wingsuit. She loves flying her ultra-light bush plane to land in remote locations of the Alps to explore mountains. Yet another strength that aligns with Longines, which is known for exquisite women’s watches with refined lines that embrace femininity and power.

Géraldine Fasnacht brings a new edge to Longines’ universe while sharing the brand’s values of passion and precision and strong Swiss roots. Welcome to the family, Géraldine!
