    Her Majesty the Queen launches the 16th official Queen’s Baton Relay for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

    The Queen’s Baton Relay was launched today at Buckingham Palace, where her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II placed her message to the Commonwealth into the Baton. As the proud Official Partner of the Queen’s Baton Relay, Longines witnessed this important moment that brought together diverse cultures and communities of the Commonwealth family in celebration of the Games next year. The Baton will depart from Birmingham on October 8 and make its way to 72 nations and territories across the Commonwealth, reaching Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania, the Caribbean and the Americas for a total of 140,000 kilometres and 269 days as the international sector of the relay. As part of its dedicated support for this ambitious journey to inspire the next generation and promote the unity of the modern and diverse Commonwealth of today, Longines will welcome the Baton in many of its boutiques all around the world for this unparalleled opportunity that brings communities together during the global pandemic.   The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will take place from July 28 to August 8, 2022. This event will hold special significance for both Longines and the Commonwealth Games, as it will mark the beginning of the first ever multi-Commonwealth Games partnership between Longines and the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) for the next three editions of the Commonwealth Games, starting with the Games next year. This partnership will in particular underscore Longines’ role as the Presenting Partner of Athletics and Gymnastics and Co-Presenting Partner of Table Tennis and Rugby 7's.%break%Longines’ longstanding ties with the Commonwealth Games date back to the last century, where it was originally a partner of the Perth 1962 Commonwealth Games.     Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup Final

    At the grand Final of the Longines FEI Jumping Nations CupTM that took place in the stunning setting of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona this year, the Swiss watch brand continued playing a pivotal role in supporting the world’s leading riders and providing timekeeping expertise in this elite-level event of show jumping. The climax of the competition had to be the victory of the Netherlands consisting of Maikel van der Vleuten on Beauville Z, Willem Greve on Carambole, Sanne Thijssen on Con Quidam Rb and Harrie Smolders on Monaco. These outstanding talents filled the stadium with energy and, most importantly, with their absolute elegance and pinpoint precision mirroring Longines’ long-term values in watchmaking. Ireland and Belgium finished second and third, respectively, leaving indelible memories to the enraptured spectators with their conviction and tenacity, qualities necessary for them to excel in their future competitions. To reward the winning team, Longines CEO Matthias Breschan, presented elegant Longines timepieces to Team Netherlands for their great performances.%break%On Saturday October 2nd, Longines further enhanced its strong presence at the event by its association with the Longines FEI Jumping Nations CupTM Final – the Longines Challenge Cup.  Team Great Britain kept gold in their sights and clinched the victory at this spectacular competition. Team France and Team Norway thrived under pressure and displayed their constant pursuit of excellence by arriving second and third, respectively. To strengthen Longines’ support for the boldest riders in show jumping, the Brand Manager of Longines Spain, Elena Orozco presented elegant Longines timepieces to the winning team for their brilliant victory.   During the three-day event, Longines was privileged to present the Official Watch, a brand new moonphase model for women from The Longines Master Collection.
