36th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships 2018 - Sofia
The Longines Prize for Elegance awarded to Aleksandra Soldatova at the 36th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Sofia
As the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the 36th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships 2018 in Sofia, Longines was proud to present the Longines Prize for Elegance to Russia’s Aleksandra Soldatova. She distinguished herself from all participants of the all-around finals for the grace, beauty, harmony, and above all elegance of her performance, a value cherished by Longines. The jury of the Longines Prize for Elegance comprised Walter von Känel, President of Longines, Morinari Watanabe, President of the International Gymnastics Federation, Maria Petrova, Ambassador of the Event – three-time World All-around champion and three-time European All-around champion – and Dmitri Dmitriev, Regional Sales Manager for Longines.
Set up in 1997, the Longines Prize for Elegance takes the form of a trophy representing a gymnast in movement created especially for Longines by the Swiss artist Jean-Pierre Gerber. In addition, the winner received an elegant Longines timepiece and a cheque.
During the event, Longines was proud to witness the outstanding performances of its Ambassadors of Elegance, the twin sisters Dina and Arina Averina. The latter won a gold medal in the Hoop, Ball and Club finals, while the former finished third in the Hoop and Club finals. The Russian athletes were seen wearing with the Official Watch of the event, the ladies model of The Longines Master Collection Blue Edition, which displays a sunray blue dial with diamond indexes matching its blue alligator strap.
For over thirty years, the brand has been the Official Partner and Timekeeper for artistic and rhythmic gymnastics competitions organized by the International Gymnastics Federation. At these events, Longines provides the necessary infrastructure and personnel for calculating times, presenting scores, processing data (start lists, results, and medals) and displaying it on the results screens, on the commentators’ information system as well as transmitting it to the television companies that are covering the competitions.
