Qatari victory at the 2017 Longines Global Champions Tour in Doha
After a passionate competition, Bassem Mohammed won the 15th stage of the Longines Global Champions Tour held in Doha, Qatar this weekend. The Qatari rider finished ahead of Janika Sprunger and Peder Fredricson. In addition, Harrie Smolders was crowned winner of the 2017 Longines Global Champions Tour following a great season with an impressive consistent scorecard on the circuit. He scored 278 points, while Maikel Van Der Vleuten arrived second and Lorenzo de Luca third with 263 and 260 points, respectively. The Dutch rider has made history by becoming the first rider ever to wrap up the Championship ahead of the final.
The 2017 Longines Global Champions Tour, of which Longines is proud to be the Title Partner and the Official Timekeeper, began in April in Mexico City. After that, it took the best riders in the world to compete in the heart of great cities, known for their glamorous atmosphere, such as Monaco, Paris, Shanghai, London and Rome.
