The FEI Awards Gala 2021: Longines celebrates outstanding achievements of today’s promising equestrian talents
On Wednesday November 17, Longines took part in the 2021 FEI Awards Ceremony in Antwerp, Belgium as the FEI’s Top Partner – an event that acknowledges since 2009 the contributions of personalities and organizations in their progress in equestrian sports both indoor and outdoor. To recognize the extraordinary success of promising young talents in equestrian sports between the ages of 14 and 21, Longines presented the German Eventing rider Greta Busacker the 2021 Longines FEI Rising Star Award on this occasion. As Longines is committed relentlessly to fostering excellence and elegance in the equestrian world, the young rider was rewarded with a refined timepiece by Longines’ Vice President Marketing, Matthieu Baumgartner.
At 19 years of age, Greta Busacker has already been crowned individual and team European Champion in the Eventing Young Riders category.
As the daughter of the Eventing legend Ingrid Klimke, she is making a name for herself in the sport. The young athlete started the season on a high note with her European title and achieved greater success by winning several international events this year and taking bronze at the German national championships for young riders. Besides being a highly successful young Eventing athlete, Greta also competes in Dressage tests, taking wins up to Prix St. Georg level.
Over the years, Longines has been striving to promote the exacting standards of excellence and elegance shared with distinguished equestrian talents at the Longines FEI Awards ceremonies alongside the FEI. This includes the brand’s support for the FEI’s commitment to recognizing the contributions of a wide range of talents in the equestrian community - this year again awards in a number of other categories were given out to further highlight outstanding individuals’ accomplishments. The evening saw Peder Fredricson (SWE) take home the Peden Bloodstock FEI Best Athlete. In addition, the Cavalor FEI Best Groom was presented to Marie Johansson (SWE) for her unparalleled contribution. To acknowledge the achievement of an individual who has pursued his or her equestrian ambitions despite a physical handicap or extremely difficult personal circumstances, the FEI Against All Odds award was granted to Beatrice de Lavalette (USA) to recognize her excellence. These winners received elegant Longines timepieces for their inspiration and exceptional contribution. The Equulus Charity - "Pursuit of Dreams" (CHN) received the FEI Solidarity award for its equestrian development project that plays a vital role in expanding equestrian sports.
