Longines Ambassador of Elegance, Simon Baker, attended the Closing Ceremony of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games
On 15 April, Longines celebrated the conclusion of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) alongside its long-standing Ambassador of Elegance and Australian actor, Simon Baker. The Closing Ceremony paid tribute to the remarkable performances of Commonwealth athletes at Carrara Stadium and concluded with the passing of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games baton.
As the Official Timekeeper of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Longines displayed its timing excellence throughout the 11 days of intense competition, capturing 9 record-breaking performances.
Across Longines’ Presenting Partnerships - Athletics, Gymnastics, Rugby Sevens and Table Tennis – and in its capacity as Official Timekeeper of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Longines congratulates all Commonwealth athletes who achieved outstanding results throughout the 11 days of competition.
Throughout GC2018, the Swiss watch brand hosted an action packed schedule of events at Longines Records Club on Broadbeach including the Longines Records Ceremonies which saw a number of the world record-breaker athletes come to the Records Club to receive a Conquest V.H.P. Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, a personal certificate of achievement and a $500 AUD donation in their names to UNICEF in recognition of their outstanding achievement. The Commonwealth Games records were also celebrated during the Longines Records Ceremonies. The record-breaking athletes were presented with a personal certificate of achievement and a $250 AUD donation in their names to UNICEF.
Longines is proud to have been the Official Timekeeper of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and is looking forward to the next edition of the Commonwealth Games, which will take place in 2022 in Birmingham, England.
