Karis Teetan emerges victorious in the 2019 LONGINES International Jockeys’ Championship

Mauritian jockey Karis Teetan shined tonight at Happy Valley racecourse (Hong Kong SAR), as he claimed the LONGINES International Jockeys' Championship title. Finishing ahead of Ryan Moore and Vincent Ho, Karis Teetan accumulated the biggest score in the four feature races of the evening, with 20 points in total. During the prize-giving ceremony, LONGINES was delighted to present the winner with an elegant timepiece.

As the Official Watch of the LONGINES International Jockeys' Championship, the brand highlighted a model from The LONGINES Master Collection. Powered by a new self-winding movement developed exclusively for LONGINES, these timepieces are characterised by a moon phase indicator and a refined aesthetic, creating a balance between technical excellence and classic elegance.

Later this week, the jockeys will once again be honoured with the “LONGINES World’s Best Jockey Award” ceremony, to be held during the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races Gala Dinner, on Friday December 6.

Finally, on Sunday December 8, the week will be rounded off with the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races, which include the LONGINES Hong Kong Vase, the LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint, the LONGINES Hong Kong Mile and the LONGINES Hong Kong Cup.

Suave Richard galloped to victory in the 2019 edition of the Japan Cup in association with Longines

On Sunday, 24 November, the iconic Tokyo Racecourse, Japan, hosted the 39th edition of the Japan Cup in association with Longines. As the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of this thrilling sport event, Longines was delighted to time the victory of Suave Richard, ridden by Oisin Murphy, in the feature race. The Japanese horse was followed by Curren Bouquetd’or, ridden by Akihide Tsumura, and Wagnerian, ridden by Yuga Kawada. The winning team was presented with elegant timepieces from the hands of Longines President, Walter von Känel, and Longines Vice President Marketing, Matthieu Baumgartner.

 

Established in Tokyo since 1981, the Japan Cup in association with Longines is a 2400 meters international Group 1 turf race for horses aged 3 years or older. The event is the biggest race in the country and belongs to the most prestigious ones in the world.

The Longines Hong Kong International Races delivered a thrilling conclusion to the year, featuring some of the world’s best horses and jockeys in no fewer than four Group 1 races. Joao Moreira claimed the Longines Hong Kong Vase and the Longines Hong Kong Sprint, aboard Glory Vase and Beat the Clock respectively, while Admire Mars led by Christophe Soumillon claimed the Longines Hong Kong Mile. Finally, Masami Matsuoka and Win Bright emerged victorious in the Longines Hong Kong Cup.

2018 Longines World’s Best Racehorse and Longines World’s Best Horse Race Ceremony Set for London

The 2018 Longines World’s Best Racehorse and Longines World’s Best Horse Race Ceremony will be held on 23 January 2019 in London, England. For the first time, Longines and the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) have selected The Landmark as the host site.

 

The ceremony, now in its sixth year, will honour the three highest-rated horses in the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings as well as the Longines World’s Best Horse Race. In the previous edition, Arrogate (USA) was celebrated as the 2017 Longines World’s Best Racehorse, while the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, which was won by Enable (GB), won the title of 2017 Longines World’s Best Horse Race.%break%The Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings are established by international handicappers according to the performance of the horses in top races. The highest rated race is determined by averaging the rankings of the first four placed horses. The trophy celebrating the Longines World’s Best Racehorse is a crystal vase named Equus, whereas the Longines World’s Best Horse Race trophy represents a proud horse head. Every year, the trophies are engraved with the name of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse and Horse Race respectively, and the representatives of the winners are presented with an elegant Longines watch.

Longines celebrates the re-opening of its Ocean Center boutique in Hong Kong

Today, Longines had the pleasure to celebrate the official re-opening of its boutique located in the Ocean Center Mall, in Tsim Sha Tsui, the most important shopping district in Hong Kong. This special occasion was marked by the presence of the brand’s Ambassador of Elegance and acclaimed South Korean actor Jung Woo-Sung, who also attended the Longines Hong Kong International Races in Sha Tin racecourse in the afternoon. For the delight of all the enthusiastic race fans in attendance, the Longines Hong Kong International Races featured this year again stunning performances from some of the world’s best racehorses and jockeys. As regards the four international Group 1 races held on that day, the Longines Hong Kong Vase was claimed by Exultant ridden by Zac Purton, who also grabbed the first place in the Longines Hong Kong Mile aboard Beauty Generation. Mr Stunning led by Karis Teetan triumphed in the Longines Hong Kong Sprint, while the Longines Hong Kong Cup was won by Glorious Forever and Silvestre de Sousa.

This unmissable event, of which the Swiss watch brand has been the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper since 2012, is year after year the perfect illustration that racing excellence can successfully combine with great refinement.
