Longines becomes Title Partner of the Longines Balve Optimum

Jumping
March 28, 2019

Swiss watch brand Longines is delighted to announce its new collaboration with THE LONGINES BALVE OPTIMUM Show Jumping and Dressage competition as Title Partner, Official Watch and Official Timekeeper. Initiated more than 70 years ago, this great sports event will be held in the elegant Castle of Wocklum, located in Balve (Germany), from June 13 to June 16.

This prestigious equestrian rendezvous, built upon tradition yet always looking towards the future, carries a clear vision, highlighted by its Director, Rosalie Freifrau von Landsberg-Velen: “We are incredibly proud and happy to make history in Balve this year. Longines represents a fantastic partner for the newly named LONGINES BALVE OPTIMUM. With our motto “future needs origin” as a foundation, we share various values with Longines, such as tradition, precision, motivation, know-how, top performance, elegance, love of equestrian sport and horses, high quality and idealism. The LONGINES BALVE OPTIMUM aims to become a name that will shine far beyond regional borders, combining our Sauerland down-to-earth character with the internationally recognized Longines brand. A great partnership that promises a great event."

Longines Marketing Vice President, Matthieu Baumgartner comments: "We are especially proud to announce that, from this point forward, Longines will associate its name with the LONGINES BALVE OPTIMUM. This new partnership reinforces our long-lasting passion for the equestrian universe, which dates back one century and half. More particularly, we, at Longines, attach a great importance to support events that are aligned with our core values of tradition, elegance and performance, which are perfectly embodied by the LONGINES BALVE OPTIMUM. We are looking forward to taking part in this exciting sports event, which strengthens Longines’ ties with Germany: a country in which our brand is present since its earliest moments, in the 1830s.”

Longines’ involvement in equestrian world dates back to 1869, when it produced a pocket watch engraved with a proud horse head. In 1912 already, the Swiss watch brand first partnered with an international showjumping competition in Portugal. Today, Longines’ involvement in equestrian sports includes show-jumping, flat racing, dressage, driving and eventing competitions.
