The Longines Hong Kong International Races: four races, four chances to become a legend

For the delight of all the enthusiastic race fans in attendance, the Longines Hong Kong International Races featured this year again stunning performances from some of the world’s best racehorses and jockeys. As regards the four international Group 1 races held on that day, the Longines Hong Kong Vase was claimed by Exultant ridden by Zac Purton, who also grabbed the first place in the Longines Hong Kong Mile aboard Beauty Generation. Mr Stunning led by Karis Teetan triumphed in the Longines Hong Kong Sprint, while the Longines Hong Kong Cup was won by Glorious Forever and Silvestre de Sousa.

This unmissable event, of which the Swiss watch brand has been the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper since 2012, is year after year the perfect illustration that racing excellence can successfully combine with great refinement. Indeed, Longines lent an elegant touch to this world-class event by inviting acclaimed South Korean actor and Ambassador of Elegance Jung Woo-Sung to attend the race day, and to present the Longines Prize for Elegance to the most elegant female spectator in attendance.

Earlier that day, the brand officially celebrated the re-opening of its Ocean Center boutique, located in Tsim Sha Tsui, the most important shopping district in Hong Kong. Together with Jung-Woo Sung, Walter von Känel, Longines President, Kevin Rollenhagen, Managing Director of Swatch Group Hong Kong Limited and Karen Au Yeung, Vice President of Longines Hong Kong, took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of guests and representatives from the media.

As the Official Watch of the Longines Hong Kong International Races, Longines was proud to highlight a model of the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision”. Featuring a blue dial, this timepiece is equipped with an exclusive movement renowned for its high degree of precision (± 5 seconds/year) and its ability to reset its hands after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field. These attractive features are likely responsible for its exceptional movement status, to which a very long battery life and a perpetual calendar must be added. In the true essence of Conquest, the ultimate sports line, this exceptional timepiece brings together high technicality and dynamic aesthetic. The Conquest V.H.P. has thus positioned itself as the standard-bearer of extreme precision.

Longines’ passion for equestrian sport dates back to 1878, when it produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his mount. Three years later, it can be found on American racecourses, adopted by horse enthusiasts. In 1912, the company partnered for the first time with an international show jumping competition. Today Longines’ involvement in equestrian sports includes show-jumping, flat racing, endurance, driving, dressage and eventing competitions.
