Her Majesty the Queen launches the 16th official Queen’s Baton Relay for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
The Queen’s Baton Relay was launched today at Buckingham Palace, where her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II placed her message to the Commonwealth into the Baton. As the proud Official Partner of the Queen’s Baton Relay, Longines witnessed this important moment that brought together diverse cultures and communities of the Commonwealth family in celebration of the Games next year. The Baton will depart from Birmingham on October 8 and make its way to 72 nations and territories across the Commonwealth, reaching Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania, the Caribbean and the Americas for a total of 140,000 kilometres and 269 days as the international sector of the relay. As part of its dedicated support for this ambitious journey to inspire the next generation and promote the unity of the modern and diverse Commonwealth of today, Longines will welcome the Baton in many of its boutiques all around the world for this unparalleled opportunity that brings communities together during the global pandemic.
The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will take place from July 28 to August 8, 2022. This event will hold special significance for both Longines and the Commonwealth Games, as it will mark the beginning of the first ever multi-Commonwealth Games partnership between Longines and the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) for the next three editions of the Commonwealth Games, starting with the Games next year. This partnership will in particular underscore Longines’ role as the Presenting Partner of Athletics and Gymnastics and Co-Presenting Partner of Table Tennis and Rugby 7's.
