    Longines congratulates its Ambassador of Elegance Aksel Lund Svindal for his exceptional career

    After a 17-year FIS Alpine Ski World Cup career, Norwegian ski champion Aksel Lund Svindal took part in his very last race today at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships Are 2019, finishing second in the much-anticipated Downhill race. Personifying Longines’ sporting elegance since 2007, Aksel Lund Svindal completed 386 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup races to date and celebrated 36 victories. His greatest achievements include winning the 2006/07 and 2008/09 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup overall titles, claiming five gold medals at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships and Olympic gold in the 2010 Super-G and downhill gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Over the course of his career, Aksel Lund Svindal has shown remarkable resilience, as he was able to make successful comebacks following his severe injuries, and notably his spectacular crash at Kitzbühel in 2016.

    Longines FEI Jumping World Cup North American League - Wellington

    On Sunday 3 February 2019, American rider Alex Granato and his mount Carlchen W earned first place at the Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM North American League in Wellington. Canadian rider Mario Deslauriers on Bardolina followed ahead of Switzerland’s Beat Mändli on Dsarie. On this occasion, Swiss watchmaking brand Longines was proud to grant Alex Granato an elegant timepiece as a reward for his great performance. In addition, Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Longines FEI Jumping World CupTM North American League, Longines was delighted to present the Official Watch of the event, a Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” model, representing a new achievement in the field of quartz and combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look.

    Longines proudly timed the first Sunday race of the White Turf St. Moritz

    The Swiss watchmaker Longines was delighted to time the first Sunday race of the White Turf St. Moritz, for which the brand is Official Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch. As part of its partnership with the St. Moritz Racing Association, Longines was also the Title Partner of the featured horse race of the day: the Grand Prix Longines, which is a preparatory race for the Longines 80. Grosser Preis von St. Moritz to be held on 17th February.   New Agenda ridden by Schiergen Dennis won the Grand Prix Longines, ahead of Fiesta ridden by Bürgin Tim and Berrahri led by Lingg Raphael.   Since 1907, the annual White Turf St. Moritz event takes place on the frozen lake of the Graubünden renowned tourist resort during three Sundays in February. Attracting more than 30,000 visitors yearly, it is considered as one of the sporting and social highlight in the winter calendar. This year, the event celebrates its 80th Grosser Preis von St. Moritz and takes place on February 3, 10 and 17.   The Official Watch of the event is an elegant model from the Record collection. This range combines classic elegance and excellence, aspiring to become the spearheads of the brand.     This year again, the Swiss watch brand Longines had the pleasure to attend the Gala dinner of the 2019 FEGENTRI’s General Assembly (International Federation of Gentlemen and Lady Riders), held in Saint Moritz. During the evening, Longines, represented by Christophe Jeanneret, Brand Manager Swiss, and the FEGENTRI, represented by its President Elie Hennau, had the honor to reward Germany’s Lilli-Marie Engels, winner of the 2018 Longines World FEGENTRI Championship for Lady Riders and Italy’s Alberto Berton, winner of the 2018 Longines World FEGENTRI Championship for Gentlemen Riders. Pius Schwitzer (CH) on Cortney Cox arrived second followed by Germany’s Daniel Deusser on Tobago Z.     FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Men - Kitzbühel 2019

    As the Official Partner and Timekeeper of the FIS, Longines was proud to provide its timekeeping expertise to the Hahnenkamm races in Kitzbühel this weekend, and to time the great victories of Dominik Paris (ITA) in the Downhill, Noël Clément (FRA) in the Slalom and Josef Ferstl (GER) in the Super G races. Besides, the brand lent its support ot the Kitz-Charity Trophy, a race where professionnel skiers compete against celebrities on a section of the Streif piste, to the benefit of farming families in North, East and South Tyrol.

    Longines inaugurates its first boutique in Kuwait in presence of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

    On Wednesday, Longines had the pleasure of inaugurating its new Kuwait boutique located in the renowned “The Avenues” mall. To celebrate this unique event, Longines Ambassador of Elegance Aishwarya Rai Bachchan honored us with her presence to cut the ribbon with Mr. Charles Villoz, Longines Vice President, Mr. Patrick Aoun, Longines Brand Manager Middle East and Mr. Ali Morad Behbehani, Behbehani Group President. Considered by many as one of the world’s most beautiful women, the Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has embodied Longines’ slogan “Elegance is an Attitude” for 20 years.     Longines Hahnenhkamm Future Champions

    The Swiss watch brand Longines was proud to lend its name to the Longines Future Hahnenkamm Champions race organized by the Kitzbühel Ski-Club in the context of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. Made up of three girls and three boys, nine team from seven different countries (Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Liechtenstein, Slovenia and Switzerland) took part in this international event, which included a giant slalom and a slalom race on the same day. Team Austria 1 claimed the victory – ahead of Team Germany, second and Team Tirol, third – and were presented with elegant Longines timepieces.

    Longines World's Best Racehorse & Best Race 2018

    On Wednesday January 23, Longines and its long-time Partner the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA), were delighted to host the 2018 Longines World’s Best Racehorse and Longines World’s Best Horse Race Awards ceremony in London (GB). With an equal rating of 130, Winx and Cracksman were together declared the 2018 Longines World’s Best Racehorses.   Winx has been in the Top 10 of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings since 2015 and has been the highest rated filly/mare in the world since 2016. In 2018, she claimed overall top honours during a season that culminated in her becoming the only horse in history to win the Ladbrokes Cox Plate four times.   As co-winner, Cracksman impressed as well, with his trademark victory coming in the QIPCO Champion Stakes on British Champions Day at Ascot, where Longines is a Main Partner and the Official Timekeeper. The British runner was campaigned by the same connections as Golden Horn, the 2015 highest rated turf horse in the world. Cracksman’s jockey in 2018 was Frankie Dettori, who was named Longines World’s Best Jockey in 2018 as well as in 2015.   Accelerate, with a rating of 128, was honoured as the third-highest rated horse in the world during the ceremony, which was held for the first time at the iconic Landmark hotel in London. Accelerate was the dominant horse in America in 2018, and Longines was proud to time his great victory in the Breeder’s Cup Classic at Churchill Downs.   This classification is established by international handicappers according to the performance of the horses in top international races. Last year, American Thoroughbred Arrogate was named the 2017 Longines World’s Best Racehorse following his epic victories  in the Pegasus World Cup in Florida and the Dubai World Cup.                                           Today, the representatives of the three winning horses were presented with elegant Longines watches. The connections of Winx and Cracksman also received a replica of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse vase from IFHA representatives.%break%One ceremony, two awards   On this occasion, Longines and the IFHA were also delighted to celebrate the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe as the 2018 Longines World’s Best Horse Race. Longines is proud to be the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of this mythic race that takes place at the ParisLongchamp Racecourse, and attracts the best horses, breeders, trainers and owners from all over the world.   France Galop President Edouard de Rothschild was in London this Wednesday to accept the award. He was presented with an elegant Longines timepiece, a commemorative plate and a replica trophy representing a proud horse head. The first four finishers of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in 2018 were Enable, Sea Of Class, Cloth Of Stars, and Waldgeist. The Arc also won the award last year and was the inaugural winner of the Longines World’s Best Horse Race Award in 2015.   The Longines World’s Best Horse Race Award recognizes the best-rated race of the highest-rated Group 1 international races as established by a panel of international handicappers.
