    48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Doha

    As the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the 48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2018 in Doha, Longines was proud to present the Longines Prize for Elegance to Russia’s Angelina Melnikova and Russia’s Artur Dalaloyan. All participants in the individual men and women all-around finals held respectively on Wednesday October 31 and Thursday November 1 were nominated for this elegant contest. The winners impressed the whole jury for the grace, beauty, harmony and above all, the elegance of their performance, a value cherished by Longines. They both received elegant Longines timepieces from the hands of Longines President Walter von Känel, as well as a trophy and a cheque. In Doha, the jury of the Longines Prize for Elegance comprised Walter von Känel, President of Longines, Morinari Watanabe, President of the International Gymnastics Federation, Svetlana Boginskaya, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Ambassador for the 2018 Worlds, Patrick Aoun, Brand Manager of Longines Middle East, and Philipp Boy, Member of the Longines Family. The jury’s individual assessments were combined to form a collective judgement reflecting a perceptive and balanced evaluation of the gymnasts’ performances. Besides, Longines was delighted to enjoy the presence of its Ambassador of Elegance Kohei Uchimura, who is recognized by many as the best gymnast of all time. The Swiss watch brand witnessed his great performance as he won a silver medal on Horizontal Bar.   The Official Watch of the 48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2018 belongs to the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” collection, representing a new achievement in the field of quartz, combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance. Displaying a silver dial, this timepiece houses an ultra-precise movement (+- 5 seconds/year), as well as a perpetual calendar.     36th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships 2018 - Sofia

    As the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the 36th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships 2018 in Sofia, Longines was proud to present the Longines Prize for Elegance to Russia’s Aleksandra Soldatova. She distinguished herself from all participants of the all-around finals for the grace, beauty, harmony, and above all elegance of her performance, a value cherished by Longines. The jury of the Longines Prize for Elegance comprised Walter von Känel, President of Longines, Morinari Watanabe, President of the International Gymnastics Federation, Maria Petrova, Ambassador of the Event – three-time World All-around champion and three-time European All-around champion – and Dmitri Dmitriev, Regional Sales Manager for Longines.   Set up in 1997, the Longines Prize for Elegance takes the form of a trophy representing a gymnast in movement created especially for Longines by the Swiss artist Jean-Pierre Gerber. In addition, the winner received an elegant Longines timepiece and a cheque. During the event, Longines was proud to witness the outstanding performances of its Ambassadors of Elegance, the twin sisters Dina and Arina Averina. The latter won a gold medal in the Hoop, Ball and Club finals, while the former finished third in the Hoop and Club finals. The Russian athletes were seen wearing with the Official Watch of the event, the ladies model of The Longines Master Collection Blue Edition, which displays a sunray blue dial with diamond indexes matching its blue alligator strap.
