    Longines HKIR Prelude Race Night

    On October 28, 2020, at Happy Valley racecourse (HK SAR), Longines was proud to time the Longines Night Races: the much-awaited horseracing event kicking off the Longines Hong Kong International Races week. Best Alliance galloped to victory, ridden by jockey Keith Yeung in that evening’s highlight race, the Longines Cup. The winning owner, jockey and trainer each received an elegant Longines timepiece, presented by Ms. Nancy Tse, Vice President of Longines Hong Kong.   During the event, the brand highlighted a black-dial model from the Longines Spirit collection, designed in the same manner as the Longines timepieces of the famous pioneers as they conquered the air, land and sea. All models from the Longines Spirit line come with state-of-the-art Chronometer-certified movements, as well as a 5-year warranty.   As part of its partnership with the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Swiss watch brand is also proud to be the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Longines Hong Kong International Races on Sunday December 13 and the Longines International Jockeys’ Championship on Wednesday December 9.    Longines’ passion for equestrian sports dates back to 1878, when it produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and its horse that could be used for precise timing to a second. As of 1881, this model was extremely popular among jockeys and horse-lovers, and was soon being used by most of the sports judges in New York. Today, Longines’ involvement in equestrian sports includes horseracing, show jumping, driving, eventing and dressage competitions.

    Longines to extend its partnership with the Breeders’ Cup

    Longines is proud to renew its collaboration with the Breeders' Cup, one of Thoroughbred horse racing's most famous international events.  As part of this new agreement, the Swiss watch brand becomes the Title Partner of the newly named Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic.   A brand that has been rooted in equestrian universe for 150 years, Longines has been an important Breeders’ Cup partner since 2014.     On Sunday 6 October 2019, in ParisLongchamp (France), Waldgeist led by Pierre-Charles Boudot crossed first the finishing line of the 2,400-metre Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, rewarding the ten thousands of spectators with a truly thrilling race day.     Longines was pleased to kick off the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races with the Longines Night Races at Happy Valley Racecourse today. This is the second year the renowned Swiss watchmaker serves as the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of The Longines Cup. Longines also designated the Conquest V.H.P. “Very High Precision” timepiece, representing a new achievement in the field of quartz and combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, as the Official Watch of the event.   The Longines Cup, the fifth race of the evening, was claimed by Beaut Beaut ridden by jockey Matthew Poon Ming-Fai in 00:57:36.     QIPCO British Champions Day - Ascot

    The Swiss watch brand Longines, Main Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of Ascot Racecourse, was proud to provide its timekeeping expertise to the five thrilling races of the QIPCO British Champions Day, including the QIPCO British Champions Stakes, claimed by Craksman led by 2015 Longines World’s Best Jockey Frankie Dettori. This much-anticipated race day, which concludes the British flat racing season, was also marked by the celebration of the Flat Season Owners’ Championship title, claimed again this year by Godolphin. The Thoroughbred horseracing stable was represented by Hugh Anderson, Managing Director for UK & Dubai, and Sam Bullard, Director of Stallions, who received a Longines timepiece as well as a trophy form the hands of Juan-Carlos Capelli, Longines Vice President and Head of International Marketing.   In addition, the QIPCO British Champions Day was the opportunity for the brand to host an official presentation of its Longines Tracking System – first inaugurated in June during Royal Ascot and currently in use at Ascot racecourse – to selected members of horse racing world and press. This game-changing technology provides instant data on the exact position of horses during a race, race rankings, the distance between horses as well as their acceleration and deceleration, and measures the horses’ covered and remaining distance in the race. In addition to these features improving the experience for both racing professionals and spectators, the system does not require any permanent installation on the racecourse, as it is entirely based on satellite data.     Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Longines Prix de l'Opéra

    As the Official Partner and Timekeeper of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, which was back on the new ParisLonghcamp racecourse, the Swiss watch brand Longines had the pleasure to offer its timekeeping expertise to the sixteen races, including nine in Group 1. The eponymous race saw the victory of Enable, ridden by Frankie Dettori.   Also on Sunday, the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp Longines and the Prix de l’Opéra Longines Group 1 races were claimed by Mabs Cross and Wild Illusion respectively. On this occasion, the brand presented the jockey, trainer and owner of the winning horses with elegant Longines timepieces.   Earlier today, the Longines had the pleasure to take part in the inauguration ceremony of the plates displaying the 2015 and 2017 Longines World’s Best Horse Race titles claimed by the  Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. The mythical race was presented twice the prestigious Award by Longines and the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities, during a ceremony held in London in January. The plates can now be admired at the Club ParisLongchamp.   Along with the excitement of the most awaited horseracing trial, the spectators at ParisLongchamp had the opportunity to discover the Official Watch of the event: a model of the Record collection. Featuring a white matt dial with painted roman numerals, this timepiece is certified as a “chronometer” by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
