FIG 47th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships - Montréal

Canada’s Brooklyn Moors and Japan’s Kenzo Shirai presented with the Longines Prize for Elegance at the 47th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Montréal

As the Official Partner and Timekeeper of the 2017 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Montréal, Longines was proud to present the Longines Prize for Elegance to Brooklyn Moore and Kenzo Shirai. All participants in the individual men and women All-around finals held respectively on Thursday October 5th and Friday October 6th were nominated for this elegant contest.

Brooklyn Moore and Kenzo Shirai impressed the whole jury in displaying perfect coordination and intangible grace, beauty and harmony known as “elegance”, a value which Longines cherishes, as illustrated in its motto “Elegance is an Attitude”. Apart from purely technical considerations, the criteria applied by the jury are based on elegance, harmonious movement and emotion during the performances. The winners received an elegant Longines timepiece, a trophy, as well as a cheque.

In Montréal, the jury of the Longines Prize for Elegance comprised Morinari Watanabe, FIG President, Ian Charbonneau, Longines Brand Manager Canada as well as Nadia Comaneci, former gymnast, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Ambassador and spokesperson for the 2017 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. The jury’s individual assessments were combined to form a collective judgment reflecting a perceptive and balanced evaluation of the gymnasts’ performances.

Besides, these World Championships were also the occasion for Longines to cheer for its Ambassador of Elegance Giulia Steingruber, who latterly made her comeback to the competition after a long period of absence due to an injury. The Swiss athlete took a very good 7th place at the Final of the individual All-Around competition.

The Official Watch of the 47th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2017 belongs to the Longines DolceVita collection, which represents contemporary elegance of the Longines watchmaking brand worldwide. The watch is a lady model, cased in steel, decorated with diamonds and featuring a silver-coloured “flinqué” dial adorned with painted Roman numerals.

From its very foundation, Longines has focused on performance and elegance. For over a century now, it has confirmed its reputation for precision, reliability and all-round expertise in the world of sport, timing performances and continually advancing its technology. In 1985, Longines has been appointed by the International Gymnastics Federation as Official Timekeeper for all artistic and rhythmic gymnastics competitions. Longines provides the infrastructure and personnel needed to manage the scoring systems, to process the inputted data and to relay the results on TV screens and score boards.
